Description
This picture is included in :ex-po-zure: 's AP101.I am twice in the best of... (once in 2007, once in 2008)
I would like to explain this picture :
1. Taken outdoors
2. Cloudy but no wind
3. Time of Day : around 3 pm
4. equipment used : Tripod, Canon 300d rebel xt, Canon 17-55/2,8 EF-S IS USM, Hama UV-filter
5. Camera settings : P, F Number: F/10.0
Focal Length: 18 mm
ISO Speed: 100
I shot this picture in RAW and took 3 different expozures : -2/0/+2.
6. post production : i developed the Raw images with Photomatix. I then put the 3 images on top of each other with the HDR function in Photomatix.
Finally i put a border on it with PSP XI (black, white, Black).
I guess the post production took about 15 minutes.
This is my entry to the "S I M P L E" competition, organized by

My picture (of a single railroad track) is 'simple' because it shows a single track that goes off in the distance. There is nothing to distract you from it, just a line towards the horizon. It's that simple

awesome shot!
some of the trees and midground details seems to be blurred thought.

Very beautiful but there is also something ominous about it. Makes me think of Chernobyl for some reason.

Beautiful, very forboding. Though it looks like it could do with a bit of sharpening, in places it looks decidely soft.

I put my camera ON the track, took three pictures with a different expozure (-1/0/+1), stitched them together with a programme called Photomatic (you can use also Photoshop or the new version of Paint Shop Pro (XI)

Very cool! Are the rails actually painted yellow?

HDRX In reply to Pagan-Inspiration [2008-01-06 10:36:18 +0000 UTC]
yep, they are actually yellow. Don't know if it there is a reason, if there are any train buffs out there who know why it would be like that, i'd be happy to find out

If I remember I'll ask my dad, he's a retired engineer from Canadian Pacific Railway. He's got plenty of train facts stored away.

Love the color of the rail, I'd say watch for trains but this track doesn't seem like it gets much use.

the thumb view made me think this was a much darker take on the yellow brick road. hehe. It's wonderful though! I love your composition and the contrast of colours! Amazing work!

I like the textures and colours, the rusty tracks reflected in the autumn trees, the dramatic sky and the concept / title.
