Description Command Log, Project CE-11639-23
Commander Adrian Hull

I have just finished being briefed by the project staff on the concepts and progress of the project… damn we still have to come up with a name for this thing, a year in and no one has come up with a name? Anyway progress on the device is far behind on what I was expecting when I took over and so far only a holo schematic exists which was completed this afternoon. The computer simulates the current design to be functional with an 80% accuracy so the morning meeting will be to discuss moving this project from the virtual to the physical by starting construction of the first prototype.

For the record I still have questions as to why Starfleet is involved in this project beyond being a point of consultation, it is of civilian origin and of limited application to the fleet and while I seed the need for a firmer management to be in place as evident by the lack of progress made I am sure that suitable civilian personnel could be found.

Concept:
A small multi-purpose utility craft for use in mining, construction, planetary surveys and other similar roles.

Summery:
The craft possesses limited warp capability, approximately 1 hour at warp 1.2 to facilitate transit between objects in a planetary system without the need for transport craft and is equally as functional in both space and on a solid surface. To facilitate mining, material processing and construction the design is equipped with a long duration low yield phaser. A deflector dish is equipped to protect the craft from solid objects while transiting space and to deflect ejected material from mining and engineering operations. The deflector dish is mounted on an armature to allow limited directional adjustments to maximise its effect. Tractor beams are fitted in 2 locations, 1 on either side of the main hull to act as holding devices for large objects while two smaller ones located in the hands assist the unit in maintaining its grip on difficult loads. Finally A purely holographic control interface is planned to allow the operate the craft either through body movements or through a more traditional control scheme as desired.

As of the end of day briefing the design is projected.

Good luck with this project, it would be interesting to have the subject with a yellow gridded holodeck background
