this was so therapeutic to draw, I love my precious princess~

Azizi is Kovu and Kiara's daughter and is one of the eldest out of all the siblings (still tweaking and working on their designs), she has a pretty mischievous personality and enjoys teasing and joking around a lot, which has gotten herself and others into trouble as a kid due to silly antics and taking things too far, but instead of acting out due to whatever punishments received, she took them as a lesson when moving forward to know when to stop and dial down her energetic attitude - though her twin Upendi seems to be an exception to this, and they're constantly bickering, joking and brawling with each other. they know exactly how to push each others buttons and despite them having a strong unconditional love, there's been many a times where they've plotted the others death. typical siblings!

when she was a high maintenance kid, it was difficult for her parents to figure out what to do as she would misbehave and sometimes distance herself. though despite concerns and a few doubts about her emotional outbursts and unpredictable behavior, her family never gave up and both supported and stood by her side when she got a lot of hate and bullying from others, resulting in a phase of frustration and upset that was taken out on those around her. she hid the fact that she was being bullied for some time which was the main root of the problem of her behavior, but it didn't take long for her siblings to catch onto the fact that something was wrong behind the scenes, Upendi being the first to realize other kids were being dicks towards her and got into quite a lot of trouble for starting fights and saying equally rude and hurtful things to her bullies. a lot of the siblings got their fair share of teasing and hate in one way or another, whether it be light name calling to full on pushing and shoving when the adults had their backs turned. sneered at and spoke about by other kids, and even adults for being the offspring of a "traitor" to the Pridelands. especially the ones that looked the most like Kovu/"Outlanders", and Sawagana who physically resembles Scar. despite the bullying that was known to be taking place, their parents did their absolute best to teach their kids how to overcome those who want to put them down (Kiara's methods more civilized than Kovu's) and they also wouldn't hesitate to say a few choice words to the kids in question and the parents of said kids that were the main reason for their one sided opinions and judgments. a stern threat to banish a family from the Pridelands for even daring to hurt the King and Queen's children was enough to shut the most noble pridemembers up, and make them think twice before spreading negativity and biased opinions among one another

although there was a lot of rough patches, her behavior wasn't necessarily bad as a cub. true she got into trouble for talking back, being rude and moody to people for "no reason", and disobeying her parents wishes, but she was still a fun loving cub. it's just that the issues she had would hold her back from things that come naturally to her, such as socializing and wanting to make friends or just be a part of something. in a way you could say she had signs of ADHD as a kid, such as a very short attention span, becoming really hyper and overly excited, a complete chatter box, being intrusive and trying to get involved by being overly friendly and forward, having a somewhat bad memory, a poor self image (a v v scruffy kid, and I guess as a young teen as well), and a tendency to fidget and be restless. it was specifically hard to get along with females and relate to other girls, she even found it hard to find something in common with her own sister(s) since she would much rather roll around in mud and dirt than sunbathe and groom peacefully, talking about marriage and cute boys and blah blah blah. she'd much rather hang out with the guys since she's a pretty big tomboy, enjoying wrestling and racing and doing different challenges, also showing off slightly since she knows she's strong and likes to test her abilities. but a lot of the cubs weren't that nice towards her and didn't want a "ugly girl" playing with them. often teasing and requesting a, quote on quote, "real girl" join them since they were "nicer" and "cuter to look at". due to her rough around the edges looks, she'd be teased a lot by certain boys as they would comment on her physical traits since it's an easy target. her eyes are VERY round and big, something she inherited from Sarabi's mother, and they can look a liiiittle bit unnerving/unnatural, especially to those who meet her for the first time. however her cute/goofy smile and dimples grow quickly on most folks. but it's clear she's self conscious with certain things about herself (her eyes being one), and kids being kids would pick on her weaknesses. Kovu thinks she's adorable and so do the rest of her family (Upendi often calls her bug eyed or fish face to tease her but she has a long list of insults for him too). the main culprit that started the bullying was another cub in the pride that is the son of a certain lioness that has always had a jealous hatred for Kiara, especially when it came to light that she was in a relationship with a handsome rogue who had trained all his life to take over the throne and KILL the King. the typical "bad guy gone good" fantasy that would be some people's dream scenario. despite what his mother had to say, this male cub actually liked and somewhat admired Azizi, but because of everything his mother was telling him, he didn't yet have the understanding and self awareness to know how much his actions were effecting her and only later in life apologized profusely. Kiara very nearly ended up fighting with the uptight lionesses because she attempted to challenge her when confronted about her bad parenting

Azizi is secretly Kovu's favourite child (he loves them all don't get me wrong) but Azizi is 100% daddy's girl and they have a really unique relationship. she feels guilty as an adult since she took advantage of her Father multiple times as a kid, but that faded away when she started to mature and instead of coming to her daddy to get her own way, she'd ask if she could join him on patrols, hunts, meetings (promising to stay quiet and listen), and any other Kingly duties that were safe enough for her to attend so she could learn from him and the other animals, even making friends along the way which really helped her come out of her shell more as they were suprisingly unjudgemental, and just as interested as she was to mingle with another animal her age to learn the differences. they grew a close bond because of all the time spent together, and despite Kovu still being pretty sensitive on the inside due to his upbringing and fear of being vulnerable/weak, Azizi manages to slowly get her Father to open up to her whenever she feels the time is right, and is one of the only people (besides Simba) to see him cry. she even cries alongside him in their sentimental moments and gives him her opinions and whatever advice she can give, something he's forever grateful for and it never fails to make him smile/laugh when he thinks about it because he knows she doesn't really know what she's talking about, but she tries her best to make him feel better and it always works~

despite her troubles growing up and conflicts, when Azizi is older she's a LOT more confident and stable, maturing and growing out of her old bad habits due to the right teachings and love, completely absorbing everything she'd been taught by her parents and peers, learning the ways of the land and becoming one of the pride and joys of the family. coming to love herself the way she is and being forever grateful that she's surrounded by loved ones~

lol this is all really messy and I guess there's a lot more to say about her, but i'm still working out her story alongside everyone else's (i'll be posting a concept of their designs soon!), but i'm really looking forward to finalizing everything and drawing them all as cubs~
