Description
This base took at least an entire day, so you better like it!But seriously though, if you're going to be a critic in the comments, at least be respectful, and don't repeat what 5+ other people already said. (before anyone comments, I know the feet suck already) Thank yew! ^^
Rules: [link]
Some of the skin tones I used: [link] by GOD =Pinlicous-Bases
Original: [link] It's from a Japanese video game "The Idolm@ster" so no, there's no way for me to contact the original artist because even if I could find a twitter/myspace/etc. page from them, I can't speak Japanese.
I take no credit of the original artwork, I'm just trying to help artists who like using bases such as myself. I'm sorry if you don't agree with my morals as far as bases go, I'm trying to use art from this site and/or reference instead of trace.
*deep breath* Have a nice day... *dies*

This is er...bad, the anatomy is all wrong (ESPECIALLY on the backwards facing one ugh those thigh/hip/stomachs and the glasses) And I resent the idea that some people here think bases help anyone on here. They do not help anyone improve, ever and never will. ART is learning body structure and shape to be able to draw it from any angle. this is painting cloths on bad tracings how is that EVER useful? tracing is not helpful either. this took an entire day? how?
Bases are a problem because they take anime anatomy, a highly stylized art and giving it basic outlines which unless you know anatomy can't do well, and i've never met a tracer who can do it well. it's obvious given that anywhere cloths/hair or anything covering the body shape is concerned you go all over the map with the heads and hips for example, you, do not know anatomy and shouldn't be making these, if you DID know basic anatomy you could bang out a dozen of these a day with ten times the skill level.
Essentially what i'm saying is you can give these out all day but it'll only teach people that half assing work is fine and putting things like this out is ok to. if people don't know anatomy even on a basic level to do better than this on their own they should leave the site and take an art class because working with this will only make people WORSE.
Pick up a pen and pencil and look in a magazine for a reference pose. or you'll never learn. I'm not trying to be mean but that's how it looks to me, you don't know what your doing and tracing at least mediocre work makes you feel better, that isn't life feeling better and being good are very different you fail and fail and fail again on your OWN and you get better, if you care about art you'll at least think about that.

Actually, using and making bases can help anatomy. Compare this old piece of crap of mine [link] to one of my newer works. [link] While the second isn't a great piece of work, it's FABULOUS compared to the other one. I tried hard on both of them. I took at least a half an hour on the first one (which was a lot for me back then) and I think I took around 3 hours on the newer one.
I'm not saying I disagree with you though.

Did you consider it was maybe because it's just 3 years apart and 6 times the time and effort? I've been studying anatomy hardcore and I've improved 3/4 times over since last year and I'm not exactly talented, even doodling makes you improve over time. I can see improvement but the new one is still... Well it looks like you don't know basic anatomy T.T I can't say it without sounding mean, and while I'm not trying to be mean I can't sugar coat it or you won't get what I'm saying.
Maybe your friends are telling you it's amazing but it's not great. If you started from scratch and began to learn human anatomy, learn the BASICS about proportions, circles, lines, skeletons you'd improve. There are tons of tutorials on this site even that will help I know they help me all the time.
My point about the not learning anatomy is if you look at the picture where the anatomy would be covered (head, and hips mostly with hair and skirts) you don't know what to do and it shows they're...weird and very un realistic and when you only use a ref, it shows as well. Drawing over others lines will not help you improve, and so far hasn't from what I've seen.
Like I said, if you care about art you'll at least think about it, maybe it's not nice but it's hard to make the truth sound nice. I didn't intend for it to sound mean at the very least. Otherwise continue tracing and have fun coping other peoples hard work and talent.

I couldn't help it, what do I say? Oh it's great, but it looks awful? I'm not good at sugar coating it, although there was no intend to be mean or cruel. I was just being honest. It came out pretty nasty ;.;

Which is why I feel the need to thank you. I've just run into a bunch of people that say that anatomy doesn't matter, or that bases help them learn anatomy (no idea how.) And I couldn't put it in such a clean way you did, so bravo

trying to help artists?
tracing doesn't help anything, and neither does slapping hair and clothes on a badly traced figure
if someone wants to study anatomy, then they should look at actual pictures of people, bases don't help anatomy
and if there is no way to contact the original artist and get permission to trace, then you are not supposed to put it on here at all
no permission=no tracing/posting

Well, they serve as a guide for us who are not as good at drawing. They also allow us to express our emotions with a little help with thing we fall short with. For bases, that would be bodies. As long as there's effort, it can be art.

just go eat a grape and leave the people who improve their art with bases alone. Obviously, you aren't gaining from his conversation with this so called 'kid'. And what makes it sound like I'm a kid anyway? I'm just staying calm and explaining. so hush.
