Description
Painterly commission for and follow up to
I adore how this piece came out. It was a bit of a risk, trying out going from raw pencils directly to painting, instead of lining the piece, but I decided to put more effort into the pencils so it could retain the textures and sensitivity of my rough linework. I could seriously look at this piece all day, I'm so delighted. I've been working toward a more painterly style, like the great artists over at Paizo and Magic and I finally feel like I'm getting to the caliber that I want from my work. Thanks for all the commissions everyone!
Also, it holds so much narrative (this piece in particular)! I tried to stuff this piece full of foreshadowing and payoffs from the previous piece. What will happen with those boxes? Will the one packaging guy report the phone to the boss? Will the girls be able to convince the seemingly cold workers to have some humanity and release them from their cruel fate? And what, exactly, is on that notepad the other worker is checking?
These are questions demanding answers!
But at least it seems they escaped the zombies... for now.
^_^

The OTN gags and the rope-work are very well done. You've got some serious talent!

I really dig these sequential pieces you do.
Obviously suspicious links is kicking all kinds of ass right now, but I like how much detail you fit into these series, and also a lot is left up to the imagination.
hope to see more stuff like this in the future.

Heh Helena and Ada are still cute together. Love the change of gags, honestly they even look more cute with OTN gag. Plus I see their captors finish tying them up more and I take they be transported some where soon.
Lovely work yet again

First guy: "They were trying to use this phone. I don't know how they even turned it on."
Other guy: *checking list* "Find women. Check. Release women...not check Make up excuse...not check. Profit?"

Very neat stuff. I like how they're tied and the detail in the scene in general.

Well that was an unexpected continuation. The cliffhanger is such a staple of damsel art you don't really expect sequels. Regardless of tradition though I'm glad there is a sequel because Helena looks really cute staring up at Mr Shipping Clerk from behind her gag.
It's been said before and I'm sure it'll be said again but those two cargo crates add a lot to the piece. All the shipping supplies scattered around the outside and the bubble-wrap (Who doesn't love bubble-wrap?) do a lot to tease what could happen next. In addition to the environment, the lighting turned out fantastically. You have the shadows cast by everyone, the light reflecting off of Ada's leather pants, and the sheer brightness that comes from a smartphone lit up in a dark room. It all comes together very nicely and gives off a behind-the-scenes impression, or rather, that we're seeing something that's supposed to stay a secret.

Nice!
And....
"Look, I don't care what regulations say about the plastic wrap! See this map? This is how far we'd have to go to find the Wind Crest that gets us into the room with the air tanks! So damn regulations, we're going to just go over here and get the Earth Crest so we can open the room with the drill and make some air holes!"

You really set a scene impeccably.
I love everything about this. The OTN gags, the ropework, the way the delivery men go about their tasks with mechanical efficiency, underscoring the utter helplesness of the damsels to affect their fate, and most of all, the shipping boxes, which sit poised to deliver the women to said fate, positioned perfectly to draw in the viewers eye.
Excellent.

Yeah! That's what was the most fun about this piece: the little narrative elements. The way that you can deliver the IDEAS and SENSATIONS of distress and peril with more than just rope and gags.
Thanks Nomad ^_^

That is some good pencil style, and I would contend that this version of Ada Wong looks a tad better than the previous installment (more...rounded?...expressive?). Difficult to discern if Helena's style changed with the angle, but darn if it doesn't fit the angle well.
At any rate, good work. I tend to find the OTM, damsel-thing a fascinating trope, and the "femme fatale" trope goes in tandem with it. I blame it on those old black-and-white detective programs. Looking forward to more!

Hah, you dodged the obvious pun of "Shipping and Handling".
Nice to see the pair didn't end up as zombie chow anyway, they're too cute like that. Just keep 'em both firmly gagged, they have the MOST annoying voices! (at least in the US versions...)
