Description For all of my friends and watchers who live in cold wintery climates A little bit of color to brighten your day!

30 x 20
watercolor on illustration board

For Still Life 2. Large format painting. Ranunculas. I had lots of fun with this. I let myself really explore different media. This is watercolor, pen, and colored pencil. Costco had a big pack of fun colored pens so I was inspired to use those. I really think I will try more pieces in this style.

Fortunately, it hardly every snow here where I live and it is summer during this period.
A very intriguing play of different medias that ties well together.
It is surprising that sometimes one gets a very good result from just exploring.
Despite it tends to feel a bit β€˜sterile’ with the stark white background,
it still does communicate a β€˜summarised summer’ for me.
How about tea-staining (or any type of colouring) the paper before painting on it.
That would yield an even a larger variety of results - depending on the type of tea (or colouring media) and drawing surface utilised. That should work nicely with the splattering.

I am taking Mixed Media 2 next semester and really hope to explore this idea more. I really love your idea about tea staining the paper first. I may just have to try that in my next exploding flower piece.
Thank you for your comments. I really appreciate them.
