Isen couldn't believe it. He simply couldn't. It was like his mind outright rejected the reality in front of him.

When he heard his brother's egg cracking from the hallway, he expected to come rushing in to see an imp like him. But no, the pig-snouted face staring back at him immediately made it clear this wasn't an imp. That fatty pig nose made all of Isen's hair stand on end.

It wasn't even the fact his brother wasn't a full imp by itself that bothered him. It was what that meant. His mother... cheated? Why?! Why would his mother ever want to cheat? Especially with one of those lower Wyngro breeds?!

The sound of a cough, hacking as the baby's gills flapped a little, as it couldn't breathe. The sound pulled Isen out of his trance, and he immediately panicked, realizing the baby was suffocating. He rushed to a bowl of water sitting nearby, rushing back and throwing the water over his brother, then to the doorway as he called for Alma.
