Description Another shot taken at Buttermilk Falls CT
does anyone know how to take pictures at a low shutter speed when everything is covered in bright white snow and ice ? I was trying to make the water slower but everything else was too bright

you could try using HDR. basically you take multiple exposures of the same image and then combine them through software so that all parts of the image are exposed well. can be done in Photoshop or various other programs like Photomatix.

idk anywhere offhand that's a good reference.. i guess wikipedia is a good start.

good luck

that's what i do...i hold the filters in front of my camera. the only problem i have is that on some of my lenses with built in, petal-shaped, lens hoods i get bright spots from the light leaking in the petal/open areas called petalling effect; nothing that can't be fixed though...

What i've also done in the past is use my sunglasses...8). Hope this helps.

Yes...ND filters; maybe a three stop nd for this situation. This is awesome!

I haven't tried yet, so can't help you. I would imagine filters will have to help, along with metering on a grey card as well...

you might want to join nef and ask them...great network there... [link]

Do you have any ND filters?

I have some filters for my manual camera, but I dont know how to use the settings on that yet. I really would like an digital SLR camera with filters and different lenses, but thats a long shot. If I were to hold the filter over my digital camera that I have now, I might be able to use the filters that I have.

I know quite little of cameras, but I do love your photo. It must be freezing out there.
