Wonderful photo and gorgeous horse. Although, I don't think it's albinism because that would cause red eyes because of the lack of pigment. Are they deaf? Usually animals that are white with blue eyes are deaf...hmmm...

Blue-eyed horses are often descended from the original Spanish Mustangs, though random recessive genes could also be the case. There's a great many blue-eyed horses at the Wild Horse Preserve by Hot Springs, SD, that are known to be be Spanish Mustang descendants.

Beautiful animal. It's true, horses can have blue eyes. I had a Shetland Pony with blue eyes and he was Pinto/red white colored. I don't know what causes the blue eyes, but it could be a sotr of albinism indeed.

I've only seen one blue-eyed horse, also white, but it was a little colt

It's beautiful Heather. The blue eyes are really cool, and like you, I have never seen one with blue eyes. I've owned horses, been around a whole bunch of them in my life and don't ever remember seeing a blue eyed one.
