And as we grow older, our idols die or move on to other work. David Bowie has gone to where he left all of his love, i.e. between the stars, the better to shine it down on all those who loved him.

lovely bittersweet image but I dont agree with your opinion of 'When we grow older, our children's dreams vanish.' ... for some sad hopeless individuals its unfortunately true... these are the mundanes... and there are too many of those in the world actually... but not for Sarah... not for artists and dreamers... not for the true individuals...
plus... I believe the story of the Labyrinth is a 'move into adulthood' theme story the same as Little Red Ridinghood and others... Jareth is The Big Bad Wolf... the temptation of adult issues touchin and responsibility.
Sarah: thats not fair. Jareth: I wonder what your basis of comparison is.
Sarah begins the movie as a child... selfish and thoughtless but thru the Door of Challenging Jareth.. she takes on responsibility... for her baby brother... she put his needs above her own - scarifying her dreams and Jareth's even to win him back...
so I think Jareth stays with Sarah always... she defeats him wins him wins herself... she moves into adulthood a stronger fuller character

I totally agree with all the comments. Your pic, and especially your artist's comments, are simply wonderful. In your picture, it looks like Jareth is bidding Sarah goodbye...because she is growing up and needs to let go of her fantasties. Well, what I say to that is...F**K NO! Yes, we need to grow up, but hell no we don't need to let go of our fantasties! She HAS her fantasy (Jareth), and the only reason she is crying because her stepmother is making her go to some stupid...party or something. In MY fantasy, Sarah and Jareth are only parted for a short time, then she comes home, and they're in each other's arms again. Well...in my fantasy world at least. But your picture is much better. *sigh* I hope I didn't confuse you.

This really made me shed tears, it's really sad. I think what you wrote in your artists comment just makes so heartbreaking. I really like the detail you put into it and the sparkles around them. Their poses are nice, very expressive. Sarah looks older in this, she looks beautiful. Good work on their hair as well, the creases in their clothes, their expressions. You really can take it all in one glance. Lovely work.
