Biography
Dr. Ted Sallis was a biochemist working on recreating the super soldier serum that had created Captain America. When his lab in the Everglades was attacked by terrorist group A.I.M however, he fled into the swamps with the only remaining untested serum. In desperation Sallis injected the serum into himself, but then lost control of his car and crashed into the swamp. The serum, combined with the latent magical energies of the area, caused Sallis' dying body to become the Man-Thing, a massive shambling swamp creature. Possessing little of Sallis' intelligence and operating mostly on instinct, Man-Thing rarely ventures far from the Everglades, having been chosen to be the Guardian of the mystical Nexus of All Realities that lies there. His supernatural nature sometimes caused him to leave his swampy home to stop magical disturbances. Recently he has been captured by the US government and put to work alongside other superheroes as a member of the Thunderbolts.
