Description
Hey! I've finally decided to make a tutorialIt's about drawing faces. I've made a lot of traditional portraits in the past (can't really show you much here because they belong to the people who commissioned them and I don't have their permission and sometimes I just didn't take photos). Because of that some people came and asked me how to draw faces and wanted to take "lessons" so I had to start thinking about how it works. Now I took the time to put it all together for you in a nice tutorial. It's not the invention of the wheel but it may be helpful for some.
I used my own traditional and digital drawings plus some free ressources from wikimedia commons, cgtextures.com and dreamstime.com .
P.S.: Click "download" for correct size = clear text.
Enjoy!

thank god. You have no idea how sick I am of seeing cartoon or anime guides for drawing faces. I'm hoping you have tutorials similar to this for other parts of the body.

This helped me (and most likely many others) a lot. Drawing is a hobby of mine, but I could never get the proportions just right. This honestly was an exceptional tool in helping me overcome this problem. Thanks!

I have recently been trying to learn how to draw. I thought your tutorial was very informative. I took a class on basic design but I couldn't take a figure drawing class. I didn't have time! Anyways, I wanted to take it up as a hobby.
You know have a sketchbook and just start drawing randomly. I'll try your tut and tell you how it goes. I expect it to take a long time.

I recently found a very cool tool for improving drawing skills: [link]
You can even "take a class" by choosing the amount of time you want to study. Then, it will show random stock pictures - in the beginning faster as a warm up, then slower. You need to sketch really quick, but that's good because I tend to be too detailed when sketching - quick gesture drawings are much better for learning. I try to use it at least twice a week for an hour.

Ooooh. Thanks! This will help I'm sure. I've always been able to make ragged sketches but I've always been told that I should make sketches with longer lines instead of short lines. That's one of "problems" I want to fix. That and perceptions of the figure. I'll check out the new link! Thanks!
