I have to see the archive first because you can ungroup everything and select the items (Cmnd + Shift + G) or maybe they are in a clipping mask you can releas the mask (Cmnd + Alt + 7) and then select the objects you want, sorry if that doesnt work i need to se the archive to really help you, saludos.
