Quake ones hero, known through the series as Ranger. The baddest mother f--ker out there. True! Seriously that teeth clenching mug of his wasn't just like that all the time cause of the graphics, that dude was SERIOUSLY pissed!Anyways, Heres a little fan art I did of the man, after getting back into my heavily modded quake game again. Been playing through the original story with the darkplaces engine up so high my laptop is starting to smoke. It looks so god damned awesome though!
So quake one, the best one of the lot in my opinion. 2 was great but i missed the 'lovecraft' style horror, 3 was okay but the multiplayer only style gameplay was, in my opinion, totally bested by unreal tournament (though I have to admit, I had some of my best gaming memories in quake 3's arenas), and quake 4? dont even get me started on THAT.
Now I hear rumor QV is on the cards and Carmack is possibly considering a return to the series roots. That would be awesome! But of course its all just heresay at the moment. Most people are still playing through Rage. But I digress...

ID should've kept the atmosphere and style of Quake through the entire series. It was much better than the whole strogg thing, but whatever. Nice artwork.

And yeah, it's a shame that John left ID back then. Quake series might have turned out ot be better than now and he might wouldn't made that shitty Daikatana game.

It's not as bad as everybody says, but it's still pretty horrible. It's pretty ugly looking, the teammates are useless due to their tendency to stuck in numerous places and the gunplay and gameplay is pretty boring at times. But it's more like a wasted opportunity rather than the worst FPS like everyone seems to say it. They shouldn't have delayed it so much and change the graphics engine and it would have turned out to be a good game. John Romero wanted to create his own good FPS game and he had his heart in the right place, but lots of bad decisions have ruined his chance unfortunately.
