Name: Azar N'Vaelahr (goes by Vael since his real last name is hard to remember)

Powers:
Faerie Fire- he can summon harmless flames of different colors.

Levitation- he can hover in the air for a couple minutes at a time, basically just enough to scale a sharp wall or get over an impassible hole.

Infravision- When there is too little light for him to see normally he sees everything in the infrared spectrum.

Classes He wants: Arcane arts and Potions

History: After a battle for rank between his house and another, with his house as the loser, he was set to be killed off with the other house-males. He was a very skilled wizard at the time though and managed to escape into the outlying caverns, eventually making his way to the surface world. Life on the surface was confusing and dangerous, and he soon realized that his magic didn’t work the same up there, or at all during the day, and without knowing the language he was a bit lost. To deal with this and find his place in the world again he came to Halloween Academy to re-learn magic, study potions made with the ingredients found on the surface world, and learn the language and customs so he can survive there.

Notes: Because of his previous life with his own people he has been taught to respect and obey females above all else, but also to be very competitive with other males. Coming here has released him of some of the prejudices of his people, just out of necessity to survive, but he still holds a seething hatred for light-elves and their kin, meting them may be one of the few times his people’s racism and deep seated hatred will show through, otherwise he has good control over himself.

Although unlikely, if he ever met a female of his species he would probably be fearful and subservient, or at least avoid her. He recognizes that other species females are different though and doesn’t treat them all like that, hes just generally more respectful of them and their desires as long as they aren’t really awful/immature/stupid.

His favorite food is shellfish (lobsters/crabs/oysters/etc) and various fungus like mushrooms, they remind him most of his homeland’s food and sit best with his stomach.

His innate powers do not work in daylight, but still function in darkness or indoors. All of them were necessary for basic survival in his homeland, like providing light, seeing in darkness, and moving through treacherous caves.

He would have liked to learn to sword fight but Alma told him not to take her class because he was short.

His size is completely normal/average for his race, in fact its helpful. Living in deep caves they need to be small enough to sometimes slip through rather small spaces. Hes quite flexible as well as small!

btw his height is normal for his species, they average 4'8"-5'4" about and the males are a little smaller than females.

They're freakin awesome books btw so go read them :I Dark Elf Trilogy n' all dat. Lol they describe a 'tall' drow as being nearly 5 foot XD so cute. SO CUTE AND EVIL.
