Dr. Doom is quite vicious and powerful.

Yes, and one of the best villains around

now, this is truly something!
Your colours suit this particular style of inks amazingly well!

Taking notes here...

Cheer Seb, glad your liking it.Β  To be honest, this is the simplest colouring job I've done in ages

Even better!

Heavy inks with thick lines, little detail and large empty areas....IMO, that's what your particular colouring style needs as a base to shine properly,Β  in its fullest.
I'd say this blend works more than great! You should seek out more inks of such expressiveΒ  type, and you'll see what I mean

Yeah I know what you mean.Β  Although, I do change my colouring style and methods, depending on what I'm colouring.Β  Saying that, I like to colour these kind of lines, probably because they're straight forward to colour and I get them done well before I'm bored Β

Naturally....but regardless of methods and variations, there's always that 'core' in how people do stuff, our personal signature of sorts.....whether we see it or not.

Only true masters can escape from that.
I, for one, cannot lose mine no matter how hard I try...

I definitely and quite visibly have that 'core with my traditional art. Β Even though it's always improving gradually and I'm always learning and adapting. Β

With the the digital art, maybe because it's a bit more artificial, it's not so obvious. Β I mean, I might choose to paint something with gradients one time and then with airbrushes another time and the difference could be something similar to a traditional artist using two completely different mediums, say for example, watercolour painting on canvas and chalk painting on stone. Β Although, I do have a 'core' way of how I gradient paint things and I have a 'core' way how I airbrush paint something.

You're right, yes.
I think we all have our list of priorities (so to say), as in, what defines something in our heads, and the order in which we try to make that 'definition' happen in a drawing....which combined with the errors we make, results in something that can be called a style.
In my case, for example, no matter which (traditional) colouring tools I choose, if disregarding tool-specific steps, the procedure will basically be always the same.

...and that's what I meant, more or less.
My ideal would be a total absence of uniform style all over, limiting it to a specific piece of work, its demands, and that what should be done to convey that what's deemed as most importatnt in it. Be it contrast, light, texture, energy or simply the tone of the story.
A lifetime of exploration.

That's certainly one way to put it "lifetime of exploration"

Vast and endless, I know.

I wouldn't mind doing exactly that for living...

Cheers Joe.Β  I thought I'd bang out a few line arts I had stockpiled up for colouring this week while I had a bit of time.

Thanks Nick.Β  It was just a quick and simple one really, but it seems to have turned out OK.
