Finally breaking out of art block, and feeling I’ve made my best lead OC yet. Really felt that a lot of these leads have been too derivative of the work of others. Lots of changes going on in both my personal and professional life. Taking much better care of my physical and mental health now as well.

Turning thirty this year, and am just now starting to feel okay being myself. Part of that has been getting back into childhood hobbies. Went on a spree of collecting Bandai Ultraman kaiju figures. Definitely some good muses for planting creative seeds. Also started looking at kaiju designs through the lens of more self honesty and authenticity.

Definitely embracing a lot of retro elements with this design. Really embracing my childhood love of War of the Monsters for the PS2 and the audacious Trendmasters kaiju toys. Never really watched it much as a kid, but the original Mighty Morphing Power Rangers monsters have really grown on me as well. Usually wouldn’t be feeling great about all the little bits of asymmetry and general mistakes, but funky bits of asymmetry have really been growing on me. I have kind of an asymmetrical face, and I’ve also really begun to like the bits of asymmetry in designs from 80’s Jim Henson films. Also liking the funky asymmetry in a lot of vintage kaiju toys, especially bootlegs and sofubi.

Having a hard time trying to collect my thoughts, but want to go about both my creative and in person life with a new spirit. Working on all aspects of my life to be my best self.
