Cause people don't know the Halo universe and they only played the older games thinking the Elites are bad but they're not.

Well I got into liking the sangheili because Halo 3 was my first game so I always associate the sangheili as still allied with us. Halo 4's story making the sangheili bad again was really stupid.

Yeah play the other two and others if you have them then you get the story. Halo 4 is a so so game its just that if you read the books Glasslands and Thursday war you get the idea on those Sangheili those are the bad ones cause they go against the Arbiter.
