Ok, This is just another one of me wearing the same thing from In The Blue. I loked the way the light from my window hit my body... I love playing with light and shadows. ^^Related content

Damn, looks like your self portrait is well liked.
Anyhow, I am just here to comment.
Nice job on catching the light coming through the window. It produces a very diffused soft glow on your side, adding the nessecary depth to you photo.
Only two things I that I want to really mention. Try for a little more light in the eye region. Still go for the shadow effect you have, just a shade lighter, to help bring more detail to the face.
Second, when you are using one color as your primary, watch out for contrasting color. Remember the color wheel, the opposite of Blue is yellow. While its a little hard to control you wall is a brownish yellow color, which causes the eye to be distracted from the blue tone. Perhaps a blanet or something on the wall of a differing color to help highten the blue effect, not damper it.
Over all though, excellent photo. Keep up your good work.

Yeah.... I didn't have much of a lighting option... I wanna get some of those real photographer's light reflectors... but for now i think this'll do. I tried lightening up on the face, but it made the whole picture look totaly wrong. So I left it as is.
Also, thats my bedframe, it's a orang-ish wood, the walls of my room are white, I used to have a yellow, green, blue color sceme room, and I'm curently in the process of changing it to this shinny purple metal kinda fabric. ^^
I love fire, but my favorite colors are the cool colors, purple, blue, dark green... ^^

Still, over all well done. I like the overall feel you have, very nice.
Is that a self portrait by the way, or did you have someone take a photo for you.
If it a self portraits that was good posing for not being in front of the camera.

P.S. Photo reflectors are nice for filling in shadows lightly, but any heavy effect look unnatural and a little off. Just to let you know.

Thanks. ^^
And yes, it is a self portrait. I set the timer of the camera and jumped onto the bed.... hehehe, sometimes I get my little sister to help, either be a model or take pictures. She's like my aprentice.
~Catz
P.S. Yeah, I know about the lights, I've looked well into them already.... I even tried making my own with some card-board and tin foil, hehehe, that didn't work too well.

Ahh, good old-timer. Good set up for doing that in just a few seconds. I never get to use it with my sort of Photography, I tend to forget its there.
Your very cute, if you don't mind me saying.
Nice to hear you have your own personal apprentice. It helps so much when you are in the middle of an event or you are experimenting with your photography.
Self made lights huh⦠Try this next time, if you want to make a set of Barn Doors.
Get four squares of 3x3 cardboard, all similar size. Next, find yourself a metal square frame (A bunch of Coat hangers twisted together thickly works) that is 3 x 3 in dimensions as well. Now, get some aluminum foil, non-glossy side up, and wrap it around the cardboard till itβs a near smooth, but not completely.
Now just get a small metal rod to go through the bottoms, attach them to the frame, and βYEAHβ instant Barn Doors.
I can help if you need other makeshifts. Umbrella reflectors are the hardest, but if you got a fair amount of silk its possible. Just have a needle and thread ready⦠and a few hours if you are not good at sowing.

I think I'd need more then a few hours, I tried making a pair of cow print boxers in home-ec and kinda sewed them right up the crotch withe the out of date sewing machines my school made us use. It was funny though.
I think I'm going to have to try the barn doors... the umprella ones are the ones I tried to do with the tin-foil... that was a disaster WAITING to happen.
I love my style... only problem my little sister copies it a little too much, and my paren't tell me, "You should be flatered she wants to be like you." But it's really just an annoyance.
I'm gonna check out your work. ^^

LOL. Family can be annoying like that.
Well, the reason your umbrellas came out bad is the fact that you were using tin foil. The idea of an Umbrella is to diffuse the light, not just reflect it.
Tin foil will give you the same harsh light that the source is. Using a soft, but non-metalic surface, such as silk, gives you the effect you are after. You just need a regular umbrella, sow the silk onto the inside, and aim your light toward it, with the umbrella pointing towards you subject.
Tada, nice new soft light.
Hope that helps.

Mine's a super old bed. I've had it since I moved here 14 years ago. And I wake up maybe 2 times a week with back pains... But it's probably because my back's gotten used to it...
