Description
My first image with Luxus. The DAZ Studio to Luxrender plugin.Genesis and snake with Glossy Translucent with Homogeneous volume for SSS. Snake with Geometry Shell with Glass 2 with Clear volume for an extra shiny coat.
One plane converted to light.
Still learning but Iβm officially IMPRESSED with Luxus (and the awesome price, I just had to buy it and glad I did!).
SCENE: DAZ Studio 4.5 Pro
RENDER: LuxRender via Luxus for DAZ Studio

hellboy , according to interest and my curiosity, how is Luxus compatible with zbrush? I mean, about a decade ago I argued this before that it doesn't make a difference which is better, because they both have reality rendering/aka real skin textureing. But most say its completely futile because Luxus does not use the proper blendering and sculpting like they do in zbrush.
I think its all bull S. Because the image above speaks for itself.
what your opinion???

They bare both different things. Luxus is a bridge to render your DAZ Studio scene in LuxRender, while ZBrush is a complete modeling, and rendering software. I canβt say which one is better between LuxRender and ZBrush as Iβve never rendered in ZBrush. All I know is they both are capable of outstanding results.

Well to jump the shark on that note, I just got the notion that "blender" to rising to the top in the 3d world, and I just downloaded it a while ago. And it seem that blender and luxrender and Daz Studio together is unimaginable, and realistically valid for any kind of rendering and texturing. Zbursh on the other hand.../from what I was told/ is lacking in "hard surfacing" for sculpting, and some other software features.
So I think blender is the right match for me
And thanks for the update

Great realistic look!Β
IΒ΄m also impressed by luxrender (for poser) since a while... ( But I did not release something rendered with it untill now...). The result you have in your pic is awesome!Β
I faved it into my Β΄3D TutorialsΒ΄ fav-folder because of your great hints in the image description. Thank you for them... Β

Ah sorry, I confused the Reality Plugin with the pure Luxus plugin for Daz I think... Β

Hi there can you give some tips about lighting ,lot of people in the carrara group have trouble with the noise , this looks stunning.

HellboySoto In reply to Kaiafay [2013-11-22 01:10:26 +0000 UTC]
Hi, sorry, I don't use Carrara.
When it comes to LuxRender, the noise will go eventually. It will take more or less time depending on the scene. Reflective surfaces takes a lot more to clean up.
If you use an area light, make sure it has as few polygons as possible, as each polygon is a light source, increasing render times with each additional one.
Not sure what else to say about it
Thank you!!

Wonderful work - sexy and tasteful. what impresses me here is how solid the torso feels. So real that I expect that if I could touch it, I'd feel a heart beating under the chest and sweat on my fingertips

The Rob Elite textures never fail. And well, Genesis shapes in a really nice way, so it's a good combination.

Could you explain how you made SSS work through Luxus? Or where I can find information on how to achieve this quality of skin rendering? It's amazing!

Love the pic! I haven't figured out how to use Luxus yet...I'm jealous. I have the plug-in but I don't see how to transfer the renders back and forth. Very frustrating.

Thanks!
Just select LuxRender as render engine

Impressive work as usual. What was the use of the Geometry Shell? I assume that must be the DAZ phyton. What did you use to create the depression in the skin where the snake hugs him?
π: 0 β©: 1
HellboySoto In reply to SimonWM [2013-04-20 13:40:49 +0000 UTC]
Thanks.
Geometry Shell creates a copy of the model on top of the original one like a skin layer. I turned the snake Geometry Shell to glass with clear volume to have a really shiny transparent coat over the regular glossy skin.
Then I used collision detection, but it created a little deformation in that area that I corrected with postwork.

RROMMELL In reply to HellboySoto [2014-01-13 08:21:24 +0000 UTC]
So this collision detection and Geometry Shell are options in DAZ? Where do I find them at and more info how to use?

SimonWM In reply to HellboySoto [2013-04-20 16:30:40 +0000 UTC]
Thanks Soto, I should start playing more with collision detection.

Some people say so. In my case it was harder because I am so used to Reality and there are many options in Luxus. But after a while it became more natural. I found it easier then Reality now.
I guess it depends on the user.
