The way I have it (there can be lots of different views this is just mine) he really takes the lost, lonely and above all abandon children. Once he has them they are trapped in another realm, a wonderland in a way with really no way back and it is up to them to decide their fate. Giggles was named giggles because she suffers from Angelman syndrome giving her a off set child-like mindset before even meeting Splenderman, so I can't really say if she suffers the slender sickness
