Chapter 3: Let the Games Begin

*Jerome’s POV*

I pulled into my parking space, removing the keys as I sat in silence. Adam Knew. He was the first person to know my secret.

I threw my head back.

How am I going to tell Mitch? My phone buzzed, breaking my intensive trace. I opened the lock screen and had 3 messages: 1 from Adam and 2 from Mitch

“Alesa and I will be over in a little bit. Can I tell her…? I don’t want her to be in the dark about this whole situation.

I began typing…

“Sure, but no one else. I need to tell them myself, especially Mitch.”

I redirected my attention to Mitch’s texts

“Hey, Biggums. How’s the packing coming along?” “Would you have enough time to record later?”

Again, I began typing…

“Hey, G. It’s going well I suppose. Adam and Alesa are going to be here in a bit. We’ll Skype later and talk about recording.”

I put my phone in my backpack and began walking up to my apartment.

**Mitch’s POV**

Jerome FINALLY replied. It had been an hour later…

I looked around the hotel room; it was so empty. Maybe if Jerome was here…

No, I can’t think this way. Jerome and I are friends, nothing else.

Regardless, I needed to see him. I have gone so long without my best friend. He’s the only person who can make me smile on the darkest of nights. It’s amazing. He’s amazing. We’ve been friends for year, and I owe him my life.

He’s been acting strange though. Every time I joke around about “Merome” or say something affectionate, he quickly shrugs it off rather than playing along.

I can’t help but wonder….

I would ask him tonight on Skype. Hopefully Adam and Alesa would be gone by then. I grabbed my key card and walked out the door.

*Jerome’s POV & 4 hours later*

Adam and Alesa had just left my apartment when Mitch called me on Skype.

“Hey Dood! How are you?” Mitch’s eyes were bright and excited, like always.

“Hey man, how’s LA?”

“Dirty. But I’ve stayed inside most of the time. There’s not much to do by myself.”

“What?! How are you in LA and not able to find something to do?”

“Simple: Traffic. It’s absolutely mad.”

We continued to talk for a few minutes regarding packing, storage, flights, transportation, and the hotel room. Afterwards, we began to record.

Because I still had packing to do, we made sure it was short by playing a few rounds of paintball.

“Hey what’s going on Doods? It’s Mitch or BajanCanadian here with Jerome and we’re playing paintball on mineplex!”

“That’s right everybody!” I looked over at Mitch’s Skype window. He looked absolutely adorable.

“JEROME!” Mitch was screaming into the mic.

“Ah! What? What?” I panicked to focus in on Minecraft.

“Explain what paintball is for the lovely people!”

“Oh right!” I began explaining the mini game. As soon as I started, though, the chat exploded with the same word, over and over again: Merome.

“Haha,” laughed Mitch, “looks like we have some Merome fans here! # Merome everyone!”

We both began shouting Merome the I quickly cut it off. It was too much…

Let’s start the game.
