Nooooooo
An opal blade! Idk why, but it looks like valyrian steel, so bright, shining...
And it has dragon scales.
The only thing I don't like is the handle. Too modern.

Yeah, this one is a bit unusual, since I rarely make such knives.
The handle was my dear customers request.

A 'noob' question if you'll indulge me... Files are notoriously hard steel. Do you treat it to bring down the hardness?
Thanks & freak'n awesome work!

Thanks!
Yes, they are re-heat treated. This also is a must, because in the course of grinding they soften out

What Rockwell hardness do you typically treat to for a carbon steel? (not that I'd really know the difference)

Not to hard, between 56-58. Except the swords, I leave them a lot softer

out of curiosity, is this forged at all or ground only?

this one is ground only, forging it would have destroyed the files teeth, at that is the reason of the whole knife

I hadn't considered how delicious the ridges would be on the unworked section. Very nice! And... still some workable file
