but for real I like it. i think someone said this,but without the costumes i wouldnt be able to tell which is which so maybe adding elements like birds on lifes side and then dead birds on deaths side. and is this a battle between the too or a mutual understanding,even a friendship? i suggest you show the relationship they have to one another, otherwise I would assume the too happened to run into each other and its about to go down XD
overall though I love it a great peice I hope to see more of you!

Well, u are right, i'm going to add something, but now i don't know what exactly
In fact I tried to show, that life and death are always together, between them is only small distance..like hyphen on a grave... life is too short.. also i tried to say, that Death is not so bad
Can't explain all my feeling about this.... maybe the other concept is that everyone has its "black" and "white" side...
But anyway i'll work on it

looks good
though i do feel that if you add more to the background to emphasize the theme more it could help. you could try adding more lighting to the life side of the image, possible some yellows. and it could help to add some decay to the left side of the image to emphasize the death part of it.
only minor suggestions really. the image really is quite nice. i like that you have used the center tree as a kind of divide for the areas.
