Description Tibetan monks creating a sand mandala. I took a sand mandala class two years ago from a visiting monk, and it's so incredibly hard to do. The sand is put inside the brass funnel-ish tool, and you brush another piece of metal along a ridge, which compels the sand to come out, just a little at a time. I'm proud of this pic, because you wouldn't believe how many it took to come out well. But then again, maybe you can >.>

#2 in my series from the Tibetan monk tour.

You should be proud of this one! Beautiful use of focus on the hands, absolutely beautiful. I love it!

Ah, thank you muchly! This one was quite difficult. The monks take very little notice of cameras in their vicinity, so they're always working, yet always natural. It was a challenge, at the very least.

Yeah, I can imagine it would be really tough to time a shot properly, but at least you don't have to worry about them posing

It's so small... After looking at that first picture, I expected it to be bigger for some reason...

That's when they were starting out, only the first or second day... I'll be posting later additions until the whole thing is finished. And it's huge.

Lol, the class was five hours, and virtually one-on-one, and yet I never got how they made those perfect ridges. 0.o XDD
