Description
This raven was perched in a tree above the courtyard at Yosemite Lodge in Yosemite National Park. It stood in that spot for quite a while, plenty of time to snap a variety of shots. In this particular one, he/she is looking straight at me, as evidenced by the reflection in the eye.Corvids (crows, ravens, jays, and such) are extremely intelligent, so this one probably knew something was going on...

My longlife dream is to take a god shot to ravens. I've tried (SO HARD) to take onde good shot to ravens in Paris, but I didn't managed. *cries in vain*

Aww... Birds are quite challenging, if not impossible most of the time. What you need to do is find one to pose for you (like this one did)!

The splash of colors on this picture is nice, especially since the sources of the colors are so small (ie the branches, leaves, the sky). Even more so, the picture, due mostly to the branches, looks like a twisted web that the crow, apparently, is guarding. Sorry, I am not making too much sense, tis late. Great picture, that is all I should say at this point, lol. But really, this is a nice picture, except you might have wanted to focus a tiny bit more on the bird, so that its expression might have been clearer. But still, tis good.

Ha. This picture is a heavy case of hit/miss. I'm really new to wildlife photography, so I was to frantic to be concerned with focus at the time... just the framing. Hehehehe... tis good advice.
And that's not the sky... that's a granite cliff!

Oh, man, sweet! I love that song! I recently made a VNV Nation mix CD, and that's the first track, mainly cuz it pwns. You should listen to "Kingdom", "Beloved", and "Carbon".
An iPod Nano! My, my, you're much more up to date than me! (Me, sans tablet and iPod)
And, of course, thank you for the fav and wallpaper pick! I made this screen res just for that!

Hehe he was probably posing
This is a neat shot. The shadows on the branches are kinda killing it for me though. If the one he was on had more detail it would be a really nice, layered looking shot.
It's still really good though^^
The blurriness of the background suits the shot really well.

Thanks! Yeah, it was hard to get a focus with so much stuff in the way... I didn't know how much time I had, so I didn't break out the spot meter. Oh well.
I'm glad the background came out well. That background is the base of a 2,000-something wall of granite!

Huh, imagine that
And here I thought it was a forest x.x
I see it now though. Haha darn foliage growing on rocks when it's not supposed to! -shakes fist-

HelloSamurai In reply to spasmodiac [2007-12-04 02:20:23 +0000 UTC]
Actually, it is kind of a forest. There's a bunch of trees in this courtyard where there's some buildings. The rocks are pretty far away.
However, there are a lot of plants that grow right out of the rock... I even have a nice pic that I'll upload that looks rather ridiculous, cuz it's like... "if you were a tree, could you grow right out of a rock?" It happens.

The only real mountains or rock formations I've ever seen are in the western Texas-Arizona-Colorado-New Mexico area.
Not a lot of foliage in most of those places ^.^;; Although, in New Mexico, there are a lot of foresty areas, but I haven't seen any in the mountains.
Haha in Western Arizona, you can see the tip of the Petrified forest That's pretty neat-o in my book.

Aww, I wanna see the petrified forest... I've seen pic of it, and it looks bizarre.
Up in the Sierra mountains (Yosemite), it's very moist and there are plants everywhere. Although I really enjoy the Southwestern desert, as well.
