Description if the composure hadn't
slipped from my face
like wax melting from a flame
it can no longer hold

I would've gone out
in the Royal scene

like a broken nosed man
with the haystack ready

I'd finally meet that mystery
whose name still
clouds a room after
thirty years of death

the one who put the stains
behind my mother's eyes

open wide porcelain
the fight would fall

insomnia
illness
failures
family
doubt
dependence
love
loss

would all go
down the drain

I would kill the composure
until I was empty
and bask in the sweet apex
floating around me;

they always said the captain
goes down with the ship

another great! I loved the first two similes and the personification you made of mystery in the fourth stanza. I’ll have to second the open mic reading—your diction is perfect for it.
