Description Remember my 'less is more' approach for most of my props and accessories? These boots are much the same. From left to right, what you see is what you get.

The idea was to create a pair of 'barbarian boots', inspired by Skyrim and other Fantasy Vikings/Huns/Mongolians. I wanted them to be bulky and, well, barbaric. In other words, simple and within my reach to create them to my own standards I started with a basic pair of snowboots, given they've already got plenty of bulk by themselves.

After that, the plan was simple and the execution luckily as well. I had two kinds of fur from earlier dealings and projects; one kind enough to cover the foot of the boots, one kind enough to cover the shaft. For the latter, I drafted a simple pattern, the former, the pieces of fur were already small enough and roughly the right shape. Both were stuck on with glue and I reinforced the whole with rivets in places where I figured the most stress on the joints would be. This means, in theory, that even if the glue does give, the whole doesn't fall apart

Now, the result is simple, but quite effective with the rest of the costume, if I may say so, and as the last two photos can attest to. The finishing touches are simple strips of tough fabric wrapped and bound around my boots, creating the look you see here.

Hope y'all like it!

On the whole garb, the boots look a little like bear paws.
But great, now I feel almost bad about just walking around in normal semi-modern woman's boots, since I always assumed that I had not enough money to buy proper medieval shoes.

I like 'em and the ties around them in the last two picture really give them a nice touch. And they look so unbelievable warm and comfy... :3

There's no denying it; they do look a little like paws, that much is true

And, yeah, you should feel bad. Overall this project has cost me roughly €15 - second hand snowboots, fur from a friend for cheap, fur, glue and rivets I already had Most of these kind of things mostly take imagination and some time

For the record: they're indeed very warm and comfy

Aww, man. It'll be take a while till I'll go to my next larp, but I'll make sure to make myself some nice boots, too, till then.
I remember my first larp-con and the dress my father and I (me?) sewed. It was made of panne velvet... *shudder* Really bad mojo, but I was young and stupid. At least I'm not that young anymore.

Was the fur self-hunted by your friend or did he get it somewhere cheap?

Good girl

Heh, I know the feeling. I had a wizard's robe made of the same Still got it about and still plan to make it into something better.

As far as the fur goes, she got it somewhere cheap. In the Czech Republic, IIRC.

I see! It's not THAT far away but I'm still afraid I won't get there anytime soon.

Upgrading the wizard's robe? Do you have already a character in mind?

Keep an eye out Furs even show up on flea markets every now and then

Well, Talahar Neron, my Fire Mage, already has a new robe. His old one I'll prolly shred one day, for a Necromancer/Undead costume
