Description Full view highly recomended.

Here's my submission for *greatLP 's Powerpuff Contest . You can find the original lines, by *greatLP , here .

I'm quite happy with it. Even if I don't win, which I consider likely, I have the satisfaction of knowing it's my best coloring job thusfar

Oh, and regardless of the previous sentence, you can still wish me luck

Update, 19-03-2005

After having recieved some feedback, and tinkering with it myself somewhat, I've updated the pic. I've added textures to most of the 'areas', which are hopefully subtle enough to add some spice, but not too harsh that they detract from the quality. Also, I tinkered with the curves (the adjustment layer, not the female ones ) and contrast of the overall pic.

If you say so It can be a hard niche to 'defend', as there are still people who believe there's no skill involved

ha ha! i bet if i wanted to do that i wouldn't know what the hell i was doing, and the ending product would look like something the cat threw up.

everything requires skill, my friend.

Nice one dood.
But let me get this out before I burst. ok?:

GAHH! Die stupid cut out filter
Seriusly. I'm not digging the background. Not only because of the filter but it's grey and boring while the power puffs are sparking with vitality.

The coloring is great man. I can see you're getting pretty good at this . Practice makes perfect, eh?
one thing though. Isn't blossom a redhead?

Peace and light 3Γ΅

Hellwolve In reply to rawified [2005-03-23 18:12:48 +0000 UTC]

Practice does make perfect...I wouldn't be much of an artist if I didn't improve, ne?

So, thanks for the comment on those aspects

As for the cutout filter...The reason I used it is because I can't really draw Plus, it is kinda grey, which is why the gals sparkle

Lastly, Blossom is indeed a redhead (do you know what they say of those, btw? ) . But, red hair in reality is more orange then signal red, is my experience.

Hello

You asked me about honest opinion, ok, iΒ΄ll do the most constructive critique that i coul do with my poor english The colouring isnΒ΄t bad and the colours are wwell selected But the color itΒ΄s a litle plain, there is no enout contrast between darker and light tones.

The nest time, whe you try with a new colouring try to get more difference with lights and shadows, first put the base-color, and the choose the shadow on the selec color pallette, don got in horizontally, you should go in diagonal right down (more saturation and darker), and you should also do a variation on the hue, it depends of the drawing that youΒ΄re colouring, sometimes you should get up, or get downs, usually you must get down. For examble if you do a shadow for a yellow, donΒ΄t put a dark yellow, because the shadow looks brown and ugly, change the level of reds and put an orange (the correct shadow for a yellow is orange, or your drawing will be too much desaturated, each color have his own technic you should practice

There is tons of ways for colour a drawing, since anime stile with hard; american comic style, using vector degrees; mixed between both technics; natural degrees, etc, all of them are valid, you only should try with the one that you like ore better, try with all

I hope this was usefull for you

This was highly usefull, actually

Your English is fine; I understood every last word. I'll see how much of your advice I can incorperate for the deadline of the competition...but rest assured: I'll try to incorperate it all in my next, fresh coloring job...which may be the one I commented on in your gallery

Pablocomics In reply to Hellwolve [2005-03-19 15:43:34 +0000 UTC]

have some colouring totorials BTW, you use different layers for each different color zone. Remember, base color one layer, shadows a different layer, brigthnes on a different layer, etc

Fist you put the lines on the top layer, change the droperties from normal to multiply, and put the color layers down. If you donΒ΄t like to see grey zones on limits, and also you donΒ΄t like that the color layers bit the lines thatΒ΄s the better way.... After that you can make selections with magic wand and also you can fit that selections with color after grow the selection some pixels (on the color layer down the line in multiply). IΒ΄m not sure if my explanation is good enouth.

I already use different layers for the colors and their shading, and multiply for the lines...but thanks for trying
