Description I'd like to introduce the newest character in my 'stable': the Stygian Elf.

"Her name is unknown, as are her origins. Her goal, however, is clear: the slaying of Daemons and other abominations. Fuelled by a hatred for that which she hunts and which burns brights, she nevertheless manages to hide her motives. It's rumored she's one of the Seven Scions of the Sword."

This picture is in a few ways a first for me.

Firstly, it's the first time I've used reflections in a way that adds to the scene and isn't a novelty, as it is in some of my old pin-ups.

Secondly, it's the first time I've used deformers in a scene, though it's hard to notice it's there. Which is good, trust me The following will be slightly technical and probably only understandable for DAZ|Studio users, but: the shirt she's wearing doesn't have any morphs.
Since I gave her the 'Stylized' morph, which means bigger breasts, I had to use two deformers on the shirt's collars to cover her breasts up. Which turned out to be pretty easy

Thirdly, it's the first render in some time that managed to crash my copy of DAZ|Studio several times I've still no idea why exactly, but in the end I managed to prevent the crashes by reducing some of the quality options, such as the antialiasing. Luckily, IMO that's not all that obvious

Fourthly, I've used some of the resource I have for the first time, most notable Stonemason's Ministry and Antfarm's Fantasy Forge

Fifthly and finally, it contains the biggest postwork 'operation' I've done thus far I'll let you guess what it is

Alright, as ever:
Feel free to ask what Poser/DAZ|studio resources I've used exactly and download it for the full resolution version!

I'm unfamiliar with this style of art. Pardon my confusion. Did you make this?

I like her setting, her weapon, and she is adorable. I love the texture of the floor. I also like the colors.

Yes, I did make it How unfamilliar are you with 3D art, exactly? With an answer to that question, I know how extensive I need to make my explanation

Anyway, thanks for the comment Quite cool

I don't know anything at all. Except that I play Unreal Tournament 2004 and this just reminded me of such.

Alright, I'll give a shot at a decent explanation

This picture is made in DAZ|Studio, which is basically an application that one can manipulate (e.g. place in the scene), texture (e.g. put on materials) and light pre-made 3D models with, as one wants.

The pre-made 3D models are for sale in a few online stores, and for clothing and such, only fit a given model of a humanoid.

Humanoids, creatures and other things that have joints (Mecha, cables, etc.) are rigged, that is to say, there are facilities to deform them: move their legs, blink their eyes, etcetera.

The art in it, is to assemble all of that so you can render a pretty picture in the end

I hope that gives you an inkling of how this is made If you've got questions, do ask!

She's beautiful! She must be quite strong to carry that big sword though, or maybe there's magic involved XD

She is kind of cute, but it's the face, most everything else says dangerous. I love the reflections on the floor, it really adds so much depth to the picture.
