This is so realistic.... it looks too real to be a picture, and yet, you can still tell it's a picture. I've noticed myself that this beyond most sketches, doodles, and traditional art... it looks like you can actually digitally create this. If I would've seen the picture, but it had no comment, I would've guessed this is digital... too real to be done with colored pencils. But now that you put down the reference and what you used, I can believe and totally see, if not be amazed by this picture that it is traditional art! Wow, nothing can describe it. I'm at a loss for word...

Wow, you got an awesome effect with the coloured pencils! The colouring is so rich and has a thick, soft look to it--hard to describe what I mean: It's just that sometimes, other artists' coloured pencil drawings have a sketchy look to them, where the strokes of the pencil are interrupted by the texture of the paper, thus leaving tiny white sections interspersed evenly all over the drawing and giving the overall piece a less saturated, more pastel look. All that to say, your piece beautifully avoids all that, because your colours are well filled-in and well blended (not to mention, well-chosen). I hope that makes sense. And you've got a great grasp of detail here, with every tiny hair, all the shadows and highlights and patterns--it's all really beautiful. Overall, this piece is well-executed and my guess is it took a lot of patience to complete, so good job!

If I may offer just a bit of constructive criticism, there are only two things I see that would make this piece stronger (or that could make your future pieces stronger):

First, compared to your reference (thank you for providing the reference photo--good habit to be in, not enough artists do it, and very helpful for anyone interested in learning more about your art process) the colours here seem a little dim and less full of contrast. It could possibly be the lighting used when you photographed or scanned in your piece. I just wonder if the colours are more vibrant in real life, and if perhaps a bit of quality was lost in transferring this piece of traditional art onto a computer? Or, if this digital image is an accurate representation of your original's actual colouring, is there anything you could do to make your blacks blacker (i.e., darker)? (I know--that's a weird way of putting it.) The photo you used as a reference has very striking blacks and very bright whites.

Second, watch your placement of the eyes, how you "build" the face in its most basic structure (when you're plotting where everything goes on the page/canvas before you dive in to all the glorious detail). Compare very closely the placement and shape of your leopard's eyes to the photo you used as a reference. It'll make your pieces look that much more 3-dimensional in the future.

(I hope my critique wasn't too harsh--that's not my intention at all!)

Overall, well done, and keep making beautiful art!
