Description
Illustrated in Pelikan Tusche A Black Drawing Ink with Crow Quill Pen on Canson 9x12 Smooth Bristol Board.Inspired by the hit series Sherlock starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as John Watson. I was never a fan of a modern adaptation of Sherlock Holmes. I didn't enjoy the Basil Rathbone WWII films and the thought of taking Holmes out of the Gaslight Era was unthinkable for me...
...until I saw the new series produced by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss. The great stories and the great cast they assembled immediately made me a fan.
I tried to combine the look I used for Sherlock Holmes when I did the adaptation of William Gillette's play with the look Benedict Cumberbatch has created for Sherlock Holmes. I really enjoy the look of the navy style jacket with the uniquely tied scarf.

Oh, this is lovely. They look so gloomy and bad-ass, and so elegant. I liked it very much!

Benedict Cumberbatch's portrayal of Holmes is very much like that too Did you hear he's starring in a stage production of Frankenstein in Boston. I guess he's switching with one of the actors between the part of Dr. Frankenstein and the Creature for each performance

I've heard about that play! Everyone says his performance is amazing. I wish I could see it (at least one of the broadcastings).

Me too! Hopefully they will do like they did with David Tennant's performance as Hamlet and show it on PBS.

Ah there it is. I was wondering when someone was going to do some fan-art for Sherlock. It was no shock when I saw who posted it, due to the fact that your artwork is magnificent, mostly focused on Doctor Who and Sherlock Holmes. But have you done a drawing on the 2009 Holmes movie?

I'll be honest, I'm not a fan of the 2009 movie. I am a fan of Robert Downey Jr. but I just was not taken by his interpretation of Holmes.
However, I want to say I don't want to discourage people from liking the movie. If it's a favorite of someone's then they're entitled to like it
But with that said, I am intrigued with the casting of the 2011 movie which has Stephen Fry as Mycroft and reportedly Jared Harris as Professor Moriarty. I've wanted Fry as Mycroft for some time now

That is correct. Right now it's still in production. But Stephen Fry has been confirmed a definite as Mycroft and at this point I think Jared Harris is still rumored as Moriarty.
After seeing the series Sherlock, I really wish Guy Ritchie had gotten Benedict Cumberbatch in the title role. I think he's probably the best Sherlock Holmes I've seen in a long time

I was quite impressed with Benedict Cumberbatch's portrayal of Holmes. His voice reminded me of Alan Rickman's
