Might I have the honor of asking what program you use to make this type of picture?
I've already somewhat got the sonic style down it's just, I've been wondering forΒ a while how the comic designers make suck spactacular work. (Seriously, I want to be a comic designer when I'm older, but as well as a digital artist and what better way to learn then by asking the pro's)
Ah, and this picture is beyond awesome, I love how shadow's basic overal emotion is captured in all three stages perfectly. This is a really awesome picture .

I like Shadow more in the games where him and all the characters ( most of them) originated instead of the comics or shows, but I love this picture! Good job!

I do dig this drawing of The Ultimate Life Form" and the filed leader of G.U.N.'s "Team Dark", Shadow the Hedgehog! Looking forward to seeing the"Shadow Fall" storyline in Sonic Universe! It takes place after theΒ video game starring Shadow, the Black Arms Aliens come back in their Black Comet with a new leader, Black Death and a Shadow lookalike, Eclipse the Darkling! Hopefully we'll learn more about Shadow's past/origin in that story!Β

I like how to drew the separate parts of his shoe as you did. Its a good angle, and shows how the pieces function very well.

ADDENDUM: If any of the line art was done with photoshop. Might I suggest also trying to ink by using either the shape tool (vector lines = epic win for resizing) or even using the line tool - combining the line tool with the warp transformation can result in some pretty dynamic lines, and I have to say they can look quite awesome.

This is actually pretty damn awesome. Even that cell shading style looks really sweet, though there's only one major glaring issue - and it might make that foreshortening work out much better, too!
The shoe closest to the viewer - Shadow's leg and the whole back part of the shoe is well done - the lines are bold, they increase enough to the point that they look like the shoe is -right- there! It's well done and portrays depth well. Unfortunately the toe portion of the shoe - that whole front part has very light line weight and unfortunately it seriously threw me off. I initially got the impression his foot was cut off and he had only a stub for a foot!
Hopefully this little edit of the line work better gets across what I'm saying: [link]

Why is Shadow's jet sneaker as large as his head? xD

It's cool; it also seems to just be the style nowadays. I haven't been able to religiously keep up with the comics since J-Axer was doing a lot of the pencils and Pat' Spaz all of the covers. Lol

It's because that shoe is closer while the back one if farther

from a young artist to a older more experienced one, what program and tools do you use?

herms85 In reply to THEATOMBOMB035 [2013-05-29 17:44:26 +0000 UTC]
For the drawing, just mechanical pencil and some felt-tip ink pens. And, uh, paper.
For coloring, Adobe Photoshop 7 and a Wacom Intuos 3 tablet.

anyway last question do you recommend inking before you scan it in or do you also think scanning the sketch and inking it with the computer?

I prefer traditional inking, and then fixing some stuff up digitally. I know a lot of people that prefer digital inking, though. Just find what's comfortable for you!
