It's a bit of a short story, but shortly after defeating Octavio and reaching the surface in Inkopolis Plaza, Marlon and Nikki went to go get some 'Fresh' gear. First to Shrimp Kicks, then Jelly Fresh, and finally to Cooler Heads. As soon as Wendy walked in, she smelled Moe from the entrance, and sneezed all over the hats and her friends shoes. She was banned from buying hats from Cooler Heads ever since...
And as to how she's allergic... I dunno, genetic I guess. Octo Valley didn't seem to have that much of anything so she'd never have built up an immunity tolerance against them.
