Now, you see. Master Chief's armor or shields would probably not fade, unless he is trying to go full badass. He is most likely going to be in cover, like any other soldier, just more capable. Being that he is larger, stronger, and probably smarter depending on if he had cortana, he could be able to kick some serious ass on that one beach. It is the equivalent of going through some 100Β jackals that take cover and use the heavy turrets. He should not need to recharge, re-equip himself. In the case that he does run out of ammo, it is then the equivalent of fighting those jackals with some of their own, petty, needle/plasma weapons. The bullets are effective against man, and less effective against him, he wins in either case. Throwing snowballs at a window vs throwing rocks at a window. They both may do damage, but only one may really get you worried of a broken window. I hope this insight proved helpful in you answering this question "What if?"

The answer is simple.
And this can be applied in any given situation, a being from the future fighting in a war in the past,
will be technologically superior.
If master chief would attempt to fight the war against the Third German Empire alone, he would at first kick ass. But with time his energy shield will fade, his energy supplies will deplete, his ammo supply will run out and his armor will wear out, and then he will die.
Now fighting along side the Americans almost the same thing, except he will have to use eventually US Military issued gear. The Americans would probably not have the means to reproduce ammo or gather energy for his suit. Unless master chief shows how its done and unless they have the technology to gather the raw materials for it in the first place.
He will eventually wear out and become a regular soldier. With the gear and loads of combat experience.
But these stuff are always over the edge questions.
One could ask, what if the German Army in WW2 Invaded America in 1788.
Tons to debate and tons of possible out comes.

First off, he wouldn't drown, for a couple of reasons. One, his armour is full sealedable, so it would hard for water to get in, and two, he has an independent oxygen supply. If he can walk in outer space (seen in Halo 2), then getting submeraged for a couple of minutes shouldn't be too hard. Plus, his weight might actually help him, as instead of trying to swim, he could walk along the bottom of the beach, which is currently underwater.
And, he would totally kick a lot of German butt. No doubts about that.

Seriously, I don't know why, but Spartans don't seem to know how to swim in any of the games. I know the armor literally weighs a ton, but couldn't a Spartan still swim with all the augmentations to their bodies?

This is the first time I feel bad about the nazis, hope they know how to fight against an super trained soldier with, lets say plasmids to be more strong and agile, a tank-proof armor and nerves of steel with the will of fighting strong as Leonidas and Marshall Lopez together.
