I found a sketch for a new Brainiac design I had done back when I was brainstorming on a fan fic, so I went ahead and fleshed it out for a quick exercise.I tried to incorporate a little from his various incarnations over the years. My favorite backstory for the character is from the Superman animated series, where the Kryptonians created Brainiac as an AI to monitor and protect their planet, but in the end he betrays them to save himself from destruction.

I like it. It keeps the flamboyance of his original look, but it's creepier, especially with that mouth.
Now that I think about it, he kinda looks like an S&M freak. Which is even cooler actually.

If it helps with the creepy s&m thing at all, those things coming over his shoulders are extending metallo tentacles good for ensnaring heroes.

It's a strong design, but it doesn't look alien enough in my opinion. It looks man-made, like one of Iron Man's armors.

Well, in my defense it could be a robot body he's forced Lex Luthor to build so it's bound to look a little earthbound.
I know that I strayed into Iron Man territory in a few places, maybe most notable the guards on the upper legs, but otherwise there are only so many ways you can do humanoid biomech before coming up with similar themes.

Yeah, it's part of the Coluan style, the animated series look, and the skeletal robot all thrown together (with maybe a little of Brainiac 13 too just for good measure). I'm happy that all came through.
