Description
As the evening sets in with its promise of rain, Jool and Captain Jorgensen have a chat.Continued from; Planet M12748 Pt22
Needless to say, Jool was a bit uncomfortable! She decided to head topside as well but Captain Jorgensen touched her arm. She smiled at the red haired extraterrestrial.
"I can see you're a bit nervous honey, but I'm just an old woman who wasn't ready for what fate and the good lord tossed my way!"
Jool smiled. "I'm sure you'll be fine captain, once we get you off planet!" "Fate has a way of moving on too!"
"You must have quite a story to tell!" chuckled the captain. "Can I at least ask what race you are and where you lived."
So Jool took a few minutes and briefly told the captain about herself and her home world. A clean-shaven Ensign Forea stopped by. He listened for a moment, then asked if he could turn in. When given permission, he left and did so.
Jool explained how she ended up on Arnessk, and how she met Casey, and some of what they'd done together. She didn't want to lie, but left out some of the details, feeling it wasn't anyone's business but hers and Caseys.

Captain Jorgensen listened intently. When Jool finished she simply nodded her head.
"Y'know, Jool I... well most of us, knew he'd do something big, really big." stated the captain. "He just had it in him! The desire, the drive, it was over the top." "People disliked him at times for it, but many of us admired it!" "He really was... something special!"
"So, you knew him personally, were you close?" asked Jool a bit tentatively. Her normal boldness had failed her.
"Cowboy? Oh, no!" laughed the captain. "I mean I knew Jack* of course; he was the director." "Admiral Coleman**, he was security and support!" "I knew who John was and what had happened, but we'd never met."
"Oh," remarked Jool. "Casey has never really talked about his time on Mars." "Not to me." "Certain incidents seem to embarrass him."
Gwen Jorgensen chuckled. "I'm sure, and I'm also sure I shouldn't discuss it either!" "I heard things but wasn't there to see it!" She looked out the red tinted front glazing of the control area, like she was searching for something.
"I was teaching advanced Cosmology because of my doctorate, and Cowboy, rather Col. Gage, was taking my sleep training courses." stated the captain. Roz was highly educated and Cowboy... cowboy... felt he needed to understand what she knew better than he did."
She paused then exclaimed. "The interesting part was that she never tried to make him feel inferior, but once he started the courses, the subjects fascinated him!"
She smiled and continued. "He was so smart, he absorbed everything, knew the material, high test scores." "He said it was his augments, and maybe it was, but his drive to get out "here" was unstoppable!" She sighed and continued. "He had a vision, a... a dream... most of us couldn't see!"
Jool smiled. It wasn't much, but it made sense. But she had to know one last thing.
"I'm not sure how to put this, Gwen." stated Jool. "But I have always wondered why he did not find someone of his own species!"

The captain smiled and replied, "Well honey, neither did we!" "I mean, he and Roz... but there wasn't anything weird going on, you know?" "Some people couldn't accept that." "I mean, he kept to himself much of the time, constantly practicing with his, whatever you call it..."
"Jah-hi-nae."
"Yes, thank you!" and Gwen laughed. "And flying, every chance he got!" "He was so, so reserved at times, we thought he was standoffish... or... gay!" "Obviously he was not!" She smiled at Jool, who suddenly felt VERY uncomfortable.
Captain Jorgensen kept smiling, almost like a Cheshire cat. "Oh, don't worry dear, I can tell he cares for you very much!" "He certainly has a type!"
"A... a type?" stammered Jool. "What does that mean?"
The captain's smile never wavered. "I'm sorry, you speak English so well.... a "type" means someone prefers a certain look, personality, temperament, and likely a combination of all three!"
Jool was trying not to blush. She started to wish she'd never asked! Captain Jorgensen seemed to be genuine, but Jool detected something else in her tone. She began to suspect the captain was also unable to get close to Casey!
"Well," Jool stated confidently "That may be true, and I must say, both he and Roz have certainly made me feel welcome." She smiled back. "I could not be happier."
"You should be, dear." The captain sighed. "Some of us would've loved to..." and she stopped. Then the Captain looked away a moment, her eyes blinking.
Jool nodded. "I understand!" she murmured. "If you'll excuse me."
While Captain Jorgensen watched as she wiped her eyes, Jool picked up her carbine, slung it over her shoulder, and headed up the ladder. She knew Casey was waiting, because the hatch lifted gracefully and stayed open while she exited the vessel.
Jool helped his life mate out of the opening. Then he closed the hatch and latched it.

Casey had been unfolding his oversized rain poncho while watching the ever-darkening sky. The wind had picked up from the southeast and was whistling by in gusts that were reaching at least twenty miles an hour, or so his augments told him. It was time to seek some shelter!
There were wicked flashes of lightning between the clouds as well, nature's lightshow building up for the grand finale' of drenching rain.
And Casey was on top of a twenty plus ton piece of Vierin' steel!
As Casey watched, Jool stood like a sky goddess, arms outstretched, the wind gusts whipping her hair about, alternately watching him trying to roll up the poncho and watching the sky.
Casey wasn't focused on the poncho but his wife. He couldn't help but enjoy the moment, seeing her standing there against the wind, her face a mixture of wonder and trepidation.
"Let's get under the spacer before the rain hits." he suggested. She looked at him and nodded.
"Is something wrong," she asked as she noticed his stare.
"Not a thing." he answered and grinned at her in his disarming manner. "Not a thing."
She continued to watch the building storm. It was just like a simulation she'd helped construct in school, but this one was real!
There were the storms on Arnessk, even Treagha'Mo, but nothing like this! The lighting flashed again, with a rumble of intense thunder.
Jool realized Casey was now standing next to her, still watching her face. And Jool smiled to herself. Once again, he'd brought her to a new frontier, a new experience! It didn't have to be a dig full of treasure anymore! A simple but intense thunderstorm on a planet she'd never been on was enough. Plus, he'd left a whole planetary system full of females... and by mere chance, found her!
She turned to him and surprised him as she kissed him intensely, and they embraced until the first huge raindrops splattered against their heads. Then hand in hand, they walked quickly across the top of the spacer and carefully leapt off, scurrying underneath the hull like two lost animals. They slipped under the hull just in time.

Hetch notes. I've been experimenting with different size pens, and this flat is one of those. I started with my regular .05 mm head on the top. Then, I also used a .07- and 1-mm pen, especially on the lower half sheet. This is two 8.5x 11 pieces stitched together in the scanner.
Hopefully you'll like the bolder look.
The top was also a newer illustration, and the bottom was one I had done while writing the script. I did a little re-drawing before ink and color.
As always, and I don't say it enough, thank you for looking favoring, commenting and watching.

Roz, Casey, Gwen, C'ell, Jorgensen, and Forea are my OC's They are not to be used without my permission. Jool is common name, but her character likeness is based on a Farscape character, and Farscape is owned by the Henson company.
