Description
This is likely the last information I'll write about practitioners, but you can always chat or ask questions. It is a long read.On my final writing, we'll focus on our main character.
As the fan fictions state, before James Casey Gage knew his name, he was known as Cowboy. The Ma-arogg physicians who restored his broken body, then accidently wiped his mind (some say on purpose to reprogram it) sent him to a habitable moon in the Ma-arogg system called Shay-qul, hoping training in the practice of Jah-hi-nae would restore his mental health.
Everyone got more than they expected... or was it planned?
Shay-qul means beautiful garden, the training place of practitioners for hundreds of thousands of cycles. Casey spent four years there from 2013 to 2017, learning to meditate and control his pain and the vivid nightmares of memories he couldn't perceive while conscious. He observed what the other practitioners did exercising their unique abilities and attempted to learn these as well.
Frustrated with his progress, yet enlightened by what he learned, he left Shay-qul and returned to Terra
Casey also found his awakened brain would absorb and retain written and spoken materials better than he'd ever dreamed of. Suddenly his average world exploded with knowledge!
A student of history, he found volumes of written material on a ancient space faring race called the Vierin'. He digested them word by word, learning their language as well as other languages.
Vierin' artifacts were already being discovered on other planets and our moon in our solar system, and like the ships of the Interplanetary Quorum, used the basic Time/Space generators to punch out or into time, thus covering vast distances of space quickly.
However, while on a patrol with a squadron of Terran Defense Force (TDF) vessels, he attempts to defend them, and is left blind after the incident.
His sight restored, he suffers from PTSD and is ordered back to Terra, likely losing his dream of flying into deep space. Instead, he convinces Jack Crichton to send him back to Shay-qul for more training. With nothing to lose and everything to gain, Jack agrees.
Only a year after leaving Shay-qul, he returns for his second training. Now the real training begins as he is put through brutal mental and physical training, some would later call abusive.
He doesn't talk about this time much, but sometime in 2020, he nearly kills his trainer defending himself. After that, the intensity of training changes, and he has time to research the Vierin' more. But the brutal training he received would prepare him for the future.
In April of 2023, He will leave Shay-qul. It is possible he will not return.
In this illustration, he stands and watches as others from his group demonstrate their skills, as he has already done. His tunic is marked with black hashmarks indicating exercises or abilities he's accomplished, and some accept tattoo markings instead.
It should be explained that the hierarchy of practitioners is illustrated here as well. At the top, are what are called "The Elders"
The Elders are practitioners who have passed. While Elders seldom speak to the living, it is an honor to be spoken to by one, much less mentored. Cowboy/Casey has earned both, but as of this writing they have not spoken to him in a long time.
The elders pictured here are Shiya-nah, Yellnt, and Rocana. The first two have mentored Casey, the third, he will meet very soon.
The other three Practitioners pictured with Casey are L to R; Cuanee', his first teacher, her skills are meditative and healing arts. She is also an entomologist, botanist and herbologist, and because of her advanced age (around 500 human years) she seldom walks but floats above the ground a few inches, as she is seen doing here.
The other two are Hoy-Lyn and Cy'laum.
Hoy-Lyn, is a Ca'nton and his trainer whom he nearly killed. Expelled from Shay-qul after an investigation of her techniques, Casey defended her and won her reinstatement. She offered herself to him if he would stay and become an instructor, but he refused. He forgave her but could never be with her.
Cy'laum is a Nrrakvo. Think ancient Egypt but with different gods and a written language without hieroglyphics! Despite his physical size and appearance, is in charge of the library, ancient studies, and a Linquist fluent on over one hundred dialects found throughout the quorum! Normally he is only clothed in what Casey describes as a banana hammock!
At an age where most Terrans would retire and likely wait to die, James Casey Gage, AKA Cowboy is just starting to live. It will be another six years before he will finally begin to realize his dream and begin to seize his destiny.
Thank you for reading.
