I went to Dragoncon in Atlanta Georgia this weekend. It was amazing. I didn't get to do a fourth of the things I wanted to. It's just too huge. But I had fun with what I did get to do. Next year to save time I think I won't sleep or eat. Well here's some of what I saw:
1. Looking up at the elevators in one, (yes, one. the convention was spread out over two) hotels.
2. Anne McCaffrey. one of the masters. you can tell she's getting older, but she's still writing. I was standing in the room when someone whizzed by me in a scooter. very fast. i did a double take, it was her.
3. it's never too early to start them on their way to becoming dragons, or at least loving them.
4. James and Oliver Phelps. the Weasely twins from Harry Potter. they were shy at first. but we found out they like lucky charms but wouldn't dare to pull some of the things their Potter counterparts do. they admit to a practical joke or two, but there's some they won't admit to.
5. I asked *puimun if i could have my picture taken with her. I love her art. go look if you haven't seen it. i bought an original sketch of a monkey being picked up by faeries (which is a tribute to her skill as I normally hate monkeys), two prints for my sister, and the enhanced print of "chessmates" that was in the dragoncon art show. it won best in show i was told. yieeee!!!
6. walking between hotels i ran into Jack Skellington. great costumes abounded at the convention.
7. i also saw the old and the new Willy Wonkas. who not only let me take their picture, but also gave me a piece of wonka candy from their little black bag.
8. part of the anime cosplay contest. sailor moon characters. the one in red was a huge bundle of energy.
9. anime cosplay. from slayers. i have no idea how old he is. i can imagine me in my 50's still downloadig the next big manga. i'll have to ask the nursing home people to read it to me though. they'll probably lock me in isolation.
10. anime cosplay from Burst Angel. she never stopped posing. never heard of the show, but I just recieved a free episode preview in the Cowboy Bebop movie OST my sister got me for my birthday.
11. anime cosplay group photo. go everyone!

and there you have it. a selection of my photos from the con. it was great. very worth going to. i wish i could have done more and stayed for the entire four days. oh well.
