Description This is the one I really wanted to do.

Now for a lesson in psychodynamic theory: The Repetition Compulsion is when we do the same thing over and over again in a vicious cycle and whenever we try to make it better, we only make it worse. It is a result of early unresolved childhood issues, and depending on how traumatic the event was, the more so it stifles our behavior. Stemming from the principle, "I long for my mother/ father/ sister/ brother/ etc...and something inside of me is not right" and so you desperately need to relive the situation in order to try to fix it in the hope of feeling something "real". Therefore, I tend to draw/ paint the same subject continuously and Hannibal Lecter eats people.

Watercolor. And I am pleased with how it turned out.

*P.S. I've added the initial sketch with a detailed explanation of my process if anyone was curious about the steps I took in painting it: [link]

Hah, that's nice to hear! I really did like the pic though, it was done very well!! Please do another one, I find myself-sadly enough-a Hannibal nut that cannot draw him...and I do no justice to him in my writings either. It's impossible to do so with him. But, anywho!, keep up the good work!

Your portraits are very well done. I don't know too much about digital painting, so I can't really offer an in-depth critique, but you definitely have skill.

Wow, lovely work. I really liked the part of the movie where he licked the blood from his glove . (yay blood! :-D ). I'm reading the novel right now, and it doesn't really contain as much blood as the movie did. Once again, great job.
I didn't know there was such a thing as an art therapist, but it sounds pretty good. I'm thinking of going into psychology after I finish school. So, what did you think about the movie?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

hever In reply to businka [2007-03-18 02:00:00 +0000 UTC]

Thanks very much. How is the book? I've heard there are a lot of differences between the book and movie. I thought the movie was alright...I liked the first half better than the second half. Towards the end things became too "convenient"...but I thought Gaspard Ulliel played the character very well.

And art therapy is really rad. I absolutely love what I do. You should check it out

businka In reply to hever [2007-03-18 02:53:19 +0000 UTC]

So far, there aren't much differences between the book and the movie. Well, the book has more details in it (the events in the movie go a little faster) but Lecter is very different. He's more normal in the book than in the movie. But once again, what's normal anyways? He's just a little calmer and smarter.
I loved the movie. Since it was rated R and I wasn't old enough to go, my mom went with me.... let's just say that she's still wondering what happened to her cute little kid
Once again, awesome job.

I was gonna say, for an art therapist this is a bit odd, but your written description explains the interest. So was that movie any good? I couldn't bring myself to view it. And yes small world, comin from Lesley. How do you like it for art therapy?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

hever In reply to TArthurSmith [2007-03-08 01:43:00 +0000 UTC]

Hahaha...well...I keep my work as an art therapist and my work as an artist separate.
The movie was alright....I usually can't stand any gore, but it wasn't too bad. I really enjoyed the first half better than the second half.

I really like Lesley a lot...I'm really enjoy my training. How about you?
