Description
This is the one I really wanted to do.Now for a lesson in psychodynamic theory: The Repetition Compulsion is when we do the same thing over and over again in a vicious cycle and whenever we try to make it better, we only make it worse. It is a result of early unresolved childhood issues, and depending on how traumatic the event was, the more so it stifles our behavior. Stemming from the principle, "I long for my mother/ father/ sister/ brother/ etc...and something inside of me is not right" and so you desperately need to relive the situation in order to try to fix it in the hope of feeling something "real". Therefore, I tend to draw/ paint the same subject continuously and Hannibal Lecter eats people.
Watercolor. And I am pleased with how it turned out.
*P.S. I've added the initial sketch with a detailed explanation of my process if anyone was curious about the steps I took in painting it: [link]

Definately. Art education's the best. Only thing is finding a decent job is tough. I just subbed for an elementary teacher, and I had to push a cart around all morning, then switch to another school in the afternoon. Doesn't sound too bad in theory, but add to that I'm carrying a large box of still life stuff, I've never been to the other school or know where materials are, and on top of that, no one had a schedule for me.
Imagine doing that everyday - the poor teacher. I need to teach high school.

Yeah, I've heard that it's difficult finding a job in that field. I carry all my supplies with me in my art therapy backpack, but luckily I don't have to lug around extra bulky stuff. Best of luck--hope you can find something that suits your taste.

I was gonna say, for an art therapist this is a bit odd, but your written description explains the interest. So was that movie any good? I couldn't bring myself to view it. And yes small world, comin from Lesley. How do you like it for art therapy?

This is beyond excellent. I love watercolors. I love you. You should keep drawing Gaspard forever, okay? Provide me with lots of Gaspard in the upcoming days.
The eyes, hair and blood are all excellently done... I love blood and I love Gaspard. And I love you, but not as much as Gaspard. Sorry.
I like this better than the first. I like how you made it a little darker than the original picture, even if that wasn't intentional. It looks better on paper that way.

Thanks very much...I can deal with being loved a little less than Gaspard. I don't know if I'm going to do any more Gaspard art any time soon...but you never know.

Amazing work, the eye looking at us has such intensity! The skin, eyes and overall feeling of the picture is great. However, the blood on his cheek (I assume) is of a slightly muddish shade - more like dried blood while the blood on his ear looks fresher. Also I miss the little shadow or shift (call it what you like) on his jaw where it turn upwards to meet the joit. Difficult to explain, I hope you understand! One last crit and then I'm done. There's something bothering me about the tongue, either that it's so deeply creased or of a slightly weak color...can't put my finger on it.
But you work with your colors in a great way, I'm impressed! :applaude:

Wow.. this is stunning. There's not a lot more I can say that people haven't, and anything else I likely couldn't word effectively enough to describe how brilliantly reenacted this is. I will say, though, that you got the characterization down just right - nothing seems off about your portrayal of Mr. Ulliel in the slightest. And, like another commenter mentioned, I love how you managed to get it so exact and yet there's still the "artist's touches" to it - how light and textured it is, and how you can see the technique that was put into the strokes.
Very well-done.

We're all our own worst critic, though. And what few things that may be different by no means take away from the peice. Besides, I think imperfections can help us learn if nothing else.
I'm glad you did paint it. The result does the scene justice.
By the way, I couldn't help but notice that your signature is a verse of Tom Waits'. Very good song, and a very talented musician.

Wicked pic, great choice of colour and the detail is amazing- I love the eyes. It's really a great portrait both character wise as well as for the description... I also like the way tou did the background, it gves the pic that sorta movie like air to it... you know when the focus is on the character while the background is unfocused- it works really well in this format and on this pic

LMAO. Isn't it strange how we humans are so turned on by other humans licking blood and being cannibals? I don't really understand it, but all I can say is....I squirmed in my seat watching that scene. And I mean that as a GOOD squirm. I could watch that same scene over and over and over again. *dreamy sigh*

Haha--I know what you mean. I feel so wrong about it too, but it's hot...what else can I say. My boyfriend will reenact the licking motion to make fun of me, but I just tell him he looks stupid and gross (he's hot for entirely different reasons...cannibalism wouldn't suit him )
