Description
This is the one I really wanted to do.Now for a lesson in psychodynamic theory: The Repetition Compulsion is when we do the same thing over and over again in a vicious cycle and whenever we try to make it better, we only make it worse. It is a result of early unresolved childhood issues, and depending on how traumatic the event was, the more so it stifles our behavior. Stemming from the principle, "I long for my mother/ father/ sister/ brother/ etc...and something inside of me is not right" and so you desperately need to relive the situation in order to try to fix it in the hope of feeling something "real". Therefore, I tend to draw/ paint the same subject continuously and Hannibal Lecter eats people.
Watercolor. And I am pleased with how it turned out.
*P.S. I've added the initial sketch with a detailed explanation of my process if anyone was curious about the steps I took in painting it: [link]

very impressive for a watercolour, I like the way you keep your work precise, yet still kind of 'show' the flow of the paints
the gaze is piercing

Thank you...this is my first real watercolor portrait and it was quite a different experience since I'm used to working with oils.

Haha...I'm flattered, but don't be too jealous. Art was one of my majors in college so I've had some hardcore training. It takes time and a lot of dedication. I know for a fact that I wouldn't have been able to do anything like this when I was in school.
And thanks for noticing the description. I think it's my favorite part of this submission...har har har.

Fantastic, I love the highlights on the face, the wash in the background, the perfect splaters of blood. Bravo, I'm jealous of your skill.

It's kinda creeping me out. I like the details, and the empty space on the left makes it feel less cramped.

Wow this is amazing for water paint. I really like how you've done the background. However I'm assuming that should be blood on his face, but it looks more like mud. The reddish brown on his ear looks more like blood than the lighter brown on his face. Other than that great work!

Thanks. The scary things is that I don't have patience for anything other than art--I'm quite volatile, but I can work on a painting for hours straight and never get frustrated.

Certifiable, aye? A certifiable nut, perhaps?
And thanks--I'm really starting to get into watercolor because it dries so fast and I love speckling paint. That was actually my whole reason for painting this...I saw the picture and went, "oh! I can speckle paint on it to look like blood!!"

Hahaha--there needs to be an emoticon of a little guy vomiting and then another one comes along and licks it off the floor. This would be the perfect/only opportunity to use it.
