"Be strong Fluttershy.... b-be strong! There are not bat who feed on blood who lives here. There are no vampires whatsoever! They don't exist.... they don't exist... T-they are just fruit bats t-that's all.... Well... I-I hope they are..."

SKREEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

"AHHHH! *panting* T-they are just a-angr- er, I mean hungry... It's fall and the food is sparse in this period of the year. They are looking at you b-because they are c-curious. Be brave Fluttershy. Be bra-"

SKREEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

"EEEEEEK!!! Oh! I wish that Rainbow was here... I hate to be alone in this part of the forest..."

SKREEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!! SKREEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! SKREEEEEEEEEE!!!!

Fluttershy stopped walking. Despite her hard breathing, she took a deep breath and turned to face them.

"GO AWAY!!!! I AM NOT FOOD AND YOU KNOW IT!!! JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!! S-SHOOOOO!!!!! SHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!"

Then, the yellow pegasus shielded her face with her wings for protection.  She kept herself covered for what seemed minutes, trying to breath despite the shivering of fear she was feeling at this moment. She kept her ears raised in alert. Not sound.  Thinking, she opened her eyes in surprised to this actual quietness. She was expecting screams and flapping wings... but none were audible. She dared to move her left wing to see through two feathers what was going on.

The bats remained still.

In her actual knowledge this was actually surprising. They would have flew away when she screamed at them. Not in this case. Seeing no harm, she folded her wings at her sides and looked at them with curiosity. She then shift her gaze away, feeling uncomfortable to do such thing. She looked around while thinking at the situation. What's going on? Why they didn't leave? She knew they were probably starving. Then, she knew what to do.

"Um.... I-I'm terribly sorry for screaming at you.... Y-you scared me a lot... N-not that I'm afraid of animals, but... I-I was wondering why you were following me... A-are you.... Are you hungry?"

One of the bat flew of its branch and landed closer to the yellow pegasus. Starling her, she let go a Eeep! She regained her composure.

"Y-you startled me... Are you the leader?" The bat nodded. "Are you all hungry?" The creature confirmed. "Oh dear. You must have not eaten for days, right?" The bat dropped its head before letting another nod. "Oh my. Well, follow me at my place. I'm going to help you to get ready for winter."

At this announcement, the chief let out what seemed a surprised but happy screech. It gestured they others to follow him. Fluttershy, resumed her walking in the direction of her home, followed by dozens of famished fruit bats. But this time, she was smiling, happing to once again help poor creatures in need of her help.


I like the atmosphere here. I hope you liked this short story.

"We heard you wanted to be one of us... There´s plenty of space for new tress in this forest, although we´ll have to do something about that kinky skin of yours..."


Now that I am done being stupid I must say I love this style. It seems as an extract from some classic children tales, you know, the ones in which a happy ending was as common as gender equality.

Break the mind and you break the soul.

I love the shading and the border. The thin lines emphasize how brittle the situation is. I can only hope Fluttershy has the willpower to continue, or they'll destroy her, one way or the other.

It's often that images lacking excruciating detail in every area are overlooked. To me, however, some of the rawest emotion comes in the lack of detail, in what the very lines and shapes themselves can represent.

Regardless, I'd be proud of this one if I were you, the emotional tone is very clear here.
