That would have been really hard. That character had a lot of graffiti on them. Also. Here's a fun observation! Mass Effect has similar animation techniques to Hanna Barbara cartoons!
In the older Hanna Barbara cartoons characters that didn't wear clothes would sometimes still wear a tie or a collar and the reason wasn't style based it was so that the animators could hide the fact that only the head neck were being animated most of the time! This managed to pull tv animation out of the hell that was syncro vox.
I believe this technique is used for 3d animation but i find it's very noticeable in Bioware games.

That's an interesting observation, thanks for sharing it! It reminds me of similar stuff I've noticed in other games, where like the neck and wrists are often covered. Which I've assumed was to cover and hide the streching of the 3D models when they moved and stuff? I don't really know much about animating, even less stuff for 3D, but it is still interesting the problem solving side of it.
Now all I can think about is syncro vox animation... which I don't think I ever knew the name of so thanks!
