I haven't used the term 汉人 in a long time. Where I come from, it is common for us to identify ourselves as descendants of that dynasty, simply to provide context of our lineage. (Its also a catchment term that is all encompassing, with roots pointing back to China, but who have sadly lost some cultural identity during the exodus out of the country generations ago).
