Description
Full view is better!Goldmoon, from the Dragonlance novels written by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. Original character design by Larry Elmore.
Some friends of mine saw that disappointing trailer for the animated Dragonlance feature, and one thing lead to another, and a couple of folks decided to do redesigns. Some were angling for designs that are easy to animate, but I just wanted to have fun drawing the character. And then I just wanted to have fun coloring it in photoshop. And now I am done. HUZZAH!
The clouds and hills are painted in photoshop, from a stock photo by lugubrum-stock as reference. Everything was cg'ed on my tablet in photoshop, except for the lichen on the stone, which is from a photo I took of an old english tomb stone.
*edit: I updated the drawing and the colors to change her deer-in-the-headlights expression, add sparkly glow and reflected light, and made numerous slight edits here and there. I like this one better!
Old pencils are here .
did Sturm Brightblade
did Tanis Half-Elven

Yay Goldmoon!
*reads description* So indeed, haha!
The animated movie was so terrible... such a disappointment, with the skills of nowadays I had expected so much better.

I know! It is almost like nobody was paying attention. At some point, someone should have noticed.

I love this. I remember you used to have a lot of fantastic D&D inspired stuff on your old Well-Of-Souls.com/artGolem website - do you have any of that posted anywhere these days? e.g. I think one was of a water elemental coming out of a well and surprising some adventurers.
Another piece of yours that you had there that I particularly loved was that sort of arial view of a small French castle/farm/town/abbey (can't remember exactly what it was!). Do you know the one I mean?

Thanks! I want to do more stuff like this one.
I forgot about those old ones, though! I'll see if I can find them.

You got me thinking, maybe it would be fun to do an "animation friendly" version. Hrrmmm!
