Description
Finished paper: [link]This is a tutorial that will show you how to make recycled paper out of things most everyone has.
I know it bothers me to throw away paper that has no use anymore, so I did my research on how to save it.
I apologize for the picture quality. I don't have my usual camera at the time. :/
This is my first tutorial, ever. So please be nice, but I would like to hear what you think about it, if it was useful, if you would like more information, or if it made no sense at all!
Hope you enjoy anyway!

The background is my own.
Thank you for the DD!
Just so everyone knows, this was not originally intended to save the planet. It was an 'artistic experiment'. If we recycle along the way, is that such a bad thing?

We did this in an art class last year 8D we didn't dab away the moisture or use a screen though. We tapped the paper onto a J cloth and squeezed it using a large clamp to dry it off ^_^ nice tutorial though!

were you able to write on it after? I read somewhere that if you absolutely wanted to write on it, you had to add starch.
But hey, I'm not saying your's is wrong, I just wanted to know if you could write on it, that way I wouldn't have to waste money on starch! thanks for the tut!

I was able to write on the paper. I made mine a little thick, but it was because I planned on drawing on it. I think it's worth a try without the starch.
No problem, thanks for reading it.

Hi, I am hoping somebody can help me answer this question as I'm having trouble finding an answer online;
I work at an after-school program and want to recycle all of our old art projects into something. Most of the paper is covered in paint (acrylic and tempera), pastels, glue, etc. Do you think it is still possible to use these pieces to make our own paper?
Thanks,
Jenny

I'm not too sure about glue (I'd just be worried about if it ruined your blender blades), but the projects with paint should be alright. I think if you mixed only a few art pieces with some other paper, it would have a better consistency. The finished paper would feel a little different and might not be as flexible though.
Good luck. :]

I've always wanted to know exactly how to do that, for it makes interesting textures without having to kill any additional trees.
Thank you for making this tutorial!

I am simply in love with this. The tutorial is well written, and the concept is wonderful. I just purchased a new blender, so now I have a reason to use the old one! I will be trying this soon!

Very cool ^-^ It's nice to see people recycling this way
It is worth mentioning though, that using any blade on paper dulls it considerably faster than using it on food substances.
Prepare to have to replace your blender blades if you do this too often.
My mom used to freak on me if I used her sewing scissors on paper. I know why now (i sew lol)
Don't use your mom's good blender on this project! lol
But it's still a neat project. Worth finding a used blender for!

Yes, definately a good note. That's why I suggest an old blender.
My grandma used to freak out for the same reason. I sew as well now haha. Lesson learned.
Thanks

I used to do this with newspaper, except that I didnt have a blender to work with, so I crushed it in a bowl of water with a thick short stick and added purple flower petals, and let it dry in the sun in the bottom of a square plastic container. It came out pretty well, but I'd work so hard to make it, I never used it. xD

Oh my, I wouldn't have used that paper either! But I bet it was a work of art in itself though.

Great tutorial. I'm gonna give this one a shot.
But, eh... "This is a wonderful way to put your waste paper to good use whilst being kind to the environment"
You realize that trees used to make paper are planted solely for paper, and that we actually have more trees because of it, right? Unless more is a bad thing, I'm not quite sure where the problem is. It's a bit like saying we have a shortage of pigs because we eat too much pork, despite the fact that we breed so many that they sometimes become unmanageable.
But I digress. Save a tree, BUY MORE PAPER. And then make your own, but only because it's fun.

Thank you very much.
This tutorial was originally thought of because I have tons of scrap paper sitting around from other projects. So for me, it is also about saving a little money on drawing paper.
If something can be put to good use, why throw it away?
