John looked through the morning mail that was piled on the table. When he shifted through it, he found a pretty letter with a fancy candle-wax seal with his name on it. He recognized who it was from, and suddenly got very nervous. Quickly, he ran to his room and sat upon his bed, carefully unsticking the wax press without breaking its beauty. He unfolded the beautiful letter, his eyes growing wide upon seeing the big letters that read: "ACCEPTED". His face became red and tears streamed down his face. His mother had been accepted and even won the pageant when she was younger. John was afraid he'd never match her luck let alone talent for such a famous pageant. He was always so insecure about being not handsome enough or even being a male to enter a pageant mostly entered by girls. He didn't know what to think or say besides cry tears of joyous relief.

His mother heard sniffling and knocked on the side of his room and peeked her head in, carrying little Jack in her arms. "John? Are you okay dear? What's wrong?"
John sniffled, turning his head with a big smile on his face and he held up the letter. "I... I got accepted, mom!"
Heather smiled warmly at him. "Congratulations dear, I always believed in you!"
They heard footsteps running down the hall, and in no time at all Liia was there bouncing with joy. "What was that??? John got accepted!? You lucky duck! I hope I get accepted when I enter!"
Her sister Sera found a stool and rested her arms and head on top of Liia's to annoy her. "No way, John got accepted? Well you're lucky I didn't enter this year, because I would have been too much competition for you!"

Heather rolled her eyes and scolded the two. "Don't tease your brother, girls."
Jack took a break from his drink and looked up to John with his crooked toothed smile. "You get to be a princess like mommy was?" He said in a funny lisped voice.
Chuckling, John wiped the tears from his face. "Well, I get to be a prince this time I guess... if I end up winning, that is... this is really just the start of more competition and work to do..."
"Well I have no doubt you will meet every challenge with the best you can do, and you will still be great in every one of them." Heather reassured him.
John gave his mom a big smile as more tears stung his eyes.

Jack threw his hands in the air and exclaimed: "I wanna be a princess like mommy!"
Sera and Liia laughed, ruffling his hair and kissing his cheeks.
"You gotta wait, bud. You're not old enough yet. Leave the spot light for us two first, ok?" Sera smirked.
Liia laughed and said: "You're adorable Jack, I'm sure you'll make a cute princess or prince someday."

Heather looked over to her son John and nodded her head. "I'm so proud of you, John."
John sniffled and nodded back, happy to feel loved.
