I had no idea what was going on, but I still LOVED IT.

Right off the bat, Toby confirmed this is an alternate universe.

This was a difficult game for Toby. He apparently had planned this game since 2012, which is around 3 years before he even released Undertale.

Sadly, although it says “chapter 1”….Toby only has the story thought out. There’s no other content worked on at all. He’s considering getting a team, but….
He also said he'd like to release all chapters at once.

to me, this means, this is all we’re getting. At least, for another 5+ years.....

So don’t expect chapter 2 any time soon.

Regardless, I still love the content presented to us.

Asriel is alive in this dimension, and apparently is older than his human sibling, Kris, who is in Highschool. Asriel is said to be in college.

Papyrus I think was hinted to be a child potentially in this universe. Mettaton is a nobody.

Gerson and the fallen amalgamates are buried in a graveyard. Catty and Bratty hate each other, two Gaster followers are seen to be normal here.

Undyne doesn’t know who Alphys is and she still has her eye.

There’s no other humans in this town despite it clearly being the surface………….there’s quite a lot to…..digest here. Quite a lot of new characters too.

So this is definitely an AU mixed up in our Undertale’s timeline.

The dark world and the light world is confusing. This “delta rune” timeline has practically changed its meaning from the Undertale game. Ralsei is a prince of darkness, aka an alternate Asriel is looks like…. Kris and Susie were summoned from the “light world” to assist with the dark world’s overruling. But when they come back to their world, no one acknowledges the presence of this other world….no one seems to know what that is despite there still being Delta Rune symbols around the town.

I LOVE little Lancer and his lesser father Rouxls Kaard, they’re PRECIOUS.

So there’s a lot that needs to be further explained or touched upon.

“Kris”, on the other hand, is the biggest enigma. Kris is dressed like Chara, but has the face and skin of Frisk. “Kris” is an Anagram of Frisk as well.

See, its clear by the end of the game, “Kris” isn’t acting like themself. From what we can tell, Kris does indeed like chocolate. Their bedroom is just…dead, empty….all they own really is a bird cage and a crumpled pile of junk in their pocket that they REALLY don’t want to get rid of. They’re apparently good at piano. We, the player, inhabit Kris’s body with our projected soul. But near the end of the game, Kris’s body has a seizure, and Kris literally rips our soul out of their body, and toss it in the bird cage. We observe this bird cage seems to have been mangled many times(Has Kris been possessed by other souls???). Kris then pulls out a switch blade and turns to look at us with Chara’s signature smile. What does this mean?

Kris is a soulless human body, just as Flowey was a soulless monster body. (This could explain Chara’s cruelty in the undertale game)

We can assume Gaster is the one who put us in Kris’s body. How is Kris surviving without a soul? What…exactly…IS Kris? Is Kris truly human?

At the beginning, we are told to make a vessel. But then its tossed away. Did Gaster make Kris? (Kinda like how Alphys unintentionally made Flowey?)

The questions are endless.

I’d also like to point out some interesting things:

1. Jevil is an extra boss. If you beat him, return to Seam and he will tell you a story. He was a court magician, and Jevil was the court jester, they were somewhat friends. But one day, Jevil met “someone” (aka Gaster), and Jevil changed. He started saying things that didn’t make sense, and yet, somewhat kinda did. He seemed to think of this world as a “game”, and therefore he was locked up. Seam goes onto say, thinking about Jevil…. his views on this world get "darker yet darker”, a phrase we know all too well.

2. Seam is a shop keeper in the dark world. But when Susie and Kris return to their reality, a small torn up plush of Seam is laying against the wall on the ground near them, and french suite cards are scattered all over the floor.

3. To the far south of Kris’s town, there’s an old red-doored bunker with strange noises emitting from it. Someone sped up the sound, and it was Gaster noises. When you try to use your phone in the dark world, Gaster noises are received through the speaker. This bunker is inaccessible, but it seems old and probably hasn’t been opened in a long time.

4. Ralsei's hooded cloak at the beginning looks very much like the Riverperson's hood.....whom warned us of the "man who speaks in hands, and came from ANOTHER WORLD"
5. Whats up with Kris at the end
6.*****When you beat Jevil by lowering his HP (which is harder than tiring him out the pacifist way), he will explain that there is a "Queen" whom shall return, and Hell shall rise when they do. Who is the "Queen"?! Where have they been?? A queen....is the most powerful piece on a chess board..........
7. Who is this "Knight" character that caused all this worldly chaos?

I truly have no answers for this world, since we aren’t given much to truly work with here. We can only simply state certain observational facts about the game.

Regardless, this was a good play. Despite the fact that we probably won’t get any more information about this game for probably another 5 years or so…………..I still can’t help but feel hopeful that we will receive more information about Gaster and Chara (and Kris, for that matter)

Chara I’ve always suspected to have some issue with their soul. It explains why they awaken during the Genocide run, why they seem so cruel like Flowey was once upon a time. Kris’ resemblance to Chara is interesting, for they have a knife, look similar, act similar……. I just like the new statement made that Kris is good at piano. Maybe Chara was too?

Gaster we can assume is the person talking to us at the beginning of the story. (note, the theme song that plays during this is titled: "Another Him") His personality is shown a bit more now too. Knowing Jevil started to become more crazy and apathetic after he met Gaster, means Gaster has an odd effect with people. He seems to have… chosen people to change? (like the Gaster followers, Clam Girl, ect..) Gaster is quite a sweet talker. “TRULY EXCELLENT.” He’s complimentary and observant. But he’s also confusing and cruel. “YOUR CREATION WILL NOW BE DISCARDED. NO ONE GETS TO CHOOSE WHO THEY ARE IN THIS WORLD.” He also tells us “ARE WE CONNECTED?” “THE FATE OF THE WORLD IS IN YOUR HANDS.” Its as though he was waiting for us, the player, to finally connect into the game. Then he gave us Kris, to control their body for the adventure. At the end, Kris is clearly angry with this, and rips us out of their body and pulls out a knife and looks at us threateningly.

Gaster is practically a god at this point. He seems to be puppeteering certain things behind the scenes. He’s an interesting character, and one definitely to be feared.

Now that we have a small insight on what he’s like, I can’t help but wonder……who was Gaster? Who was he, before the CORE accident? Was he hopeful? Funny? Kind?

……we may never know.

Gaster has been so fun for us all, thank you again for the fun times Toby!
