Liked the movie a lot. Music was amazing as usual. Nice to see a surprise Steg fusion. It was interesting to see all the gems relive their pasts but with a twist. Spinel was cool, super powerful villain, really liked her.
But the entire thing just felt like a Steven Bomb side-story combined into one. Not really much of a movie.
I was so unbearably disappointed that the rejuvenator didn't come full circle. We know for a fact that rejuvenator could bring back Pink Diamond. I don't understand why the Crewniverse continues to deny her existence. "SHE'S GONE!" Yes, but you already had an episode where Steven sees his mother in the room. You've established different versions of a gem can exist in one in the Single Pale Rose episode. Now you've brought into play a weapon that can revert a gem to that first form. Aka, Pink Diamond was trapped within Steven this entire movie.
Pink Diamond is overly villainized when she has done so much for everyone that people just like to forget. The consequences had she not done any of her shady actions could have been worse. She tried Steven's way. To talk things out. But no one ever listened to her.
It was great that Pink Diamond shattered Rose Quartz's image, but now this is getting ridiculous. This could have been the perfect opportunity to fix Pink's reputation in the eyes of the fanbase. Pink could have returned to deal with Spinel herself. Then she is confronted with her child, dying in her arms.
And she makes the quick and easy decision to save him by allowing the gem to revert back to his fusion. Therefore, Rose is not brought back in the cliche "Hero never dies" way. She is brought back temporarily. She comes back, only to leave once more. And that would be perfect. But the crewniverse didn't do it so I'm forever salty and disappointed.

Also worth noting, the chest in Lion's mane was open. Jasper and Pink Pearl are no where to be found. I think I heard rumors we may be getting another season, so it's kinda awkward to have a massive timeskip movie only to jump backwards from all the progress.
(Unless...we are gonna continue on from the timeskip?)
Whatever the case. I still love Steven Universe. But ever since last season's finale, the plot has become kinda messy. Jasper, Pink Pearl, and Lapis were severely neglected characters. And I honestly have low hopes for any other villain this series would have to offer. White Diamond was the cherry on the cake. She can take away your free will and control you like a puppet. Not to mention, if you are a gem, she can basically read your mind. There's really no topping that.
(Also, side note. I love the Diamonds. I love their characters. Problem is they went from being galactic tyrants to Steven's other moms which...is cute, but with everything they did, I don't think they deserved to be saved. ESPECIALLY NOT WHITE. Yellow and Blue I can understand but White? HOOooooooo boy. I think I'm mostly upset because I like the villains and I'm getting tired of Steven redeeming them all in a single episode just by talking to them skdjfhgdjkfhjgkj)
I'm staying on the ride though. May as well see it through to the end, even if I gotta fix this one too.

Is now practically a VILLAIN to the Steven Universe fandom.
I have no disrespect towards the Rebecca, but given that pink didn't have that much of a high reputation already, the whole abandonment thing was kinda much. Would it hurt to dabble in a bit more redemption into pink's image?

I love the comic but spinel only Knew about the garden. She met the diamonds like maybe once and was immediately moved to the garden. She never interacted with anyone. Also the garden she was in looked in tact. She did destroy bismuth building cuz she didn't know about the tool. If steven was using it to kill saphire(Not really though) she must of thought she could use it too. She was still a new gem and pink did nothing To " discipline her". Like talking to her to be less "childish" and to start behaving more like an adult. Instead pink made a huge facade about liking all her jokes and never really liking her

Dude that would've ment Pink would've been reset, and lost all her memories. Also when steven was made his gem ALREADY started from the beggining and that will forever be the beginning for him, not Pink.
Also "I struggled for a millennia for my colony" "you never grew up" Pink WINED like a child for a colony, she didn't struggle with shit. She got it and even thought it wad DULL, SHE HERSELF never GREW UP. YOUR COMIC MAKES HER SEEM WORSE! You made her berate someone she hurt badly with hypocrisy and bullahit like the abusive bitch Pink is! Pink is a horrible person, that's just how it is. She fucked everything up for everyone and was too selfish to fix it herself.

For the memory part, Pink gained back some of her memories as Pink Diamond through Steven's eyes. Like she saw Pearl and Garnet and remembered them at least, but because she wasn't allowed to reform, she could only retain Pink Diamond's memories up until she became Rose Quartz. Anything before that was lost to her until she saw Steven in her arms.

EXACTLY!!!! I was about to make the same comment! Yout of all the diamonds, I honestly feel like Pink is the worst, even worse that White. Because at the very least, White is blatntly evil and you know you should fear her. Pink, on the other hand? She'll pretend to be your "friend" for millenia, only to discard you like a broken toy at the end because she lost interest. And that doesn't go just for Spinell either. Garnet, Amethyst and especially Pearl? They were all abandonned, despite staying with her through thick and thin. She left them the moment she stopped being interested, and moved on to the next fun of "having a child" despite the fact that she still had a whole mess and a half to fix, with corrupted gems and homeworld, which were all HER FAULT!

Honestly I hate that everyone hating on Pink so much, she wasn't the best but she wasn't heartless. this would be perfect for the ending, if they just let the rejuvenator come into play with Pink it would have been so perfect and stop the amount of people wanting to murder Pink.

Spinel wasn't the only one she abandoned though. She left Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl, all the while corrupted gems and homeworld were still out there and a threat to the earth. She left them with the mess that she's made herself, and then left her son to deal with it. That's still incredibly selfish.
Also, on another note: Pink has NO RIGHT to blame Spinel for "Not growing up", all she was doing was fulfilling her designated purpose the way she was PROGRAMMED TO! Because, I don't know if you remember, but a part of the tyranical diamond regieme is the belief that gems are made for specific jobs, can only do those jobs and only in a way they were programmed to, because any less than 100% complience with the diamonds could have you SHATTERED. So, basically, Pink getting mad at Spinel not 'growing up' is her getting mad for following the rules of the tyranical regieme she was A PART OF, and getting mad at the fact she didn't even try to break out of the mold and try to be 'different'... WHILE SHE HAD TO INTERACT WITH A DIAMOND THAT COULD SHATTER HER AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT IN TIME!

I totally understand how you feel with the themes and what happens to some of the characters.
Especially vilifying Pink Diamond to such a degree.
I even made an AU for Pink Diamond to be her own character (instead of Steven's mom) just so she was able to defend her decisions and get any kind of repercussions of her actions. Cus that's always been the problem with the show i think. THey continue to just throw all the problems and blame onto the one character who is dead/isn't there.

I took some liberties there for Pink's memory. That was poorly explained in the show.
Pearl's layers can hear and see everything that happens from the outside, the lowest level Pearl could even interact with the top layer. The layered versions act as a subconscious and the fact that they could take things means they are still very much alive.
We see Pink and Rose's forms when Steven's gem is taken out of him for the first time. She is there, and the rejuvenator /should have/ reverted the gem all the way back to Pink. (Keep in mind Spinel hit him with that scythe multiple times too )
So just based off the knowledge that Pink can hear and see everything that happens from the outside (Lapis was trapped in a mirror, but she could still hear and see and interact with Steven)
Pink is hearing and seeing everything Steven is doing in the movie. She doesn't really recognize most of these people at the beginning. But slowly she starts to gain some memory back, kinda like Amethyst did, but she reforms as Pink first because she has unfinished business with Spinel. Only then, when she realizes she is Steven's mother, does she revert back to Rose Quartz, since that was her final piece.
I don't really understand why people think Pink is so severely gone? Even the crewniverse had a suspicious episode with Steven talking to his mother in the room, who many theorize was Pink's subconscious. And Steven accessed her memory multiple times throughout the show. "I'm just feeling her thoughts / seeing her memories." If she was truly gone, he should not have been able to do that.
Pink is still in the gem, on a deep subconscious level, and I am holding true to that!

The last episode of the previous season was literally about destroying the idea that Pink is hiding inside Steven's gem. The idea that you can pry Pink out of Steven and back into the conscious world where she can interact with characters and get closure with her many flawed relationships and loose ends. At the end of the day, Pink's status is a metaphor for someone who is dead and the dead don't come back, let alone get to resolve their loose ends. Her status isn't comparable to Pearl who is ultimately the same gem she was back when she served Pink. Pink didn't get rid of everything that made her who she is (her gem powers, her memories), but it seems she did a bang up job getting rid of any consciousness that could exist within Steven.
